Review: Very Satisfied Customer! - IWATANI TAKOYAKI Grill pan cooking plate CB-P-TAF I'm very pleased with the quality of this item. I suspect those negative reviews for "knock-off" items must not be about the same item or from the same seller. When ordering, make sure to order the item marked as "IWATANI TAKOYAKI Grill pan cooking plate CB-P-TAF by Iwatani : Sold by Tokyo Wind and Fulfilled by desertcart." At 8-inch x 8-inch (8 x 10 inches including handles) and 1.65 lb, it has a sold feel, very similar to waffle maker. Diameter of the hole is approx. 1 and 5/8 inches / 40 mm. Here is the list of features I like about this Takoyaki grill pan. The 4 notches on the bottom corners align with the gas burner grate for secure placement. The 8 mm lip on the surface helps prevent batter spills. Easy clean and use, non-stick surface. (Be sure to use non-abrasive utensils) The ridge details between the holes simplifies the task of separating batters. Note: Mine didn't come with English instructions. The instructions and batter recipe are printed on the back of the product box in Japanese. (See photo). You can use pancake/waffle batter on this, too!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: would it be ok to use it on an electric stove rather then a gas one? (i only have an electric one)**
A: I have an electric stove and make them great on mine! Just make sure to slowly turn the heat down as you go.

**Q: Is this uncharted cast iron or is it aluminum with a black coating? The teriyaki pan I ordered previously and returned was painted with a black paint.**
A: Kim Y is wrong. This is definitely made out of aluminum with a non-stick coating. It is too light for cast iron and magnets are not attracted to this takoyaki pan. I bought it after reading Kim Y's response and I am disappointed after I received the item. However, I used it once so far and it is easy to use and clean up.

**Q: Does this product come from Japan or China? The size of the holes is of a standard takoyaki?**
A: According to the product packaging, this Takoyaki grill is made in China, and sold by Iwatani (a Japanese company). The diameter of the holes are 4cm which is the preferred Takoyaki size according to https://nisshin.okotako.jp/how to/taco/. Another site (www.kk-take.co.jp/sub15.htm) mentions 38mm diameter as standard, and 45mm as jumbo. So...to answer your question, I'd say this Takoyaki grill has standard size holes.

**Q: How big are the holes?**
A: They are standard/regular sized Takoyaki.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authentic Takoyaki at Home
*by N***. on December 12, 2025*

We used this for a Japanese-themed dinner and it made perfect takoyaki balls - seriously took me right back to eating them in Yokosuka 20 years ago. The pan is high quality and worked great on our gas stove with even heat distribution across all the wells. Flipping the octopus balls was easy and they came out with that perfect crispy exterior. If you're looking to make authentic takoyaki at home instead of just dreaming about it, this pan delivers. The construction feels solid and durable, so it'll hold up to plenty of Japanese cooking nights. Totally worth it for anyone who loves takoyaki or wants to expand their cooking skills
