A: Neither (unless you live in Europe and can get the Italian ones fresh.  Even though American chestnuts are smaller, they pack the most flavor

Was not fresh, had not taste. I don’t mind paying a high price, but fresh chestnuts are brown and shiny, this ones were light brown and dry. I baked the batch and not flavor at all, nothing! I wish I could have returned even if I cooked all! So mad! Almos $50 dollars for 3 pounds flushed down the toilet!
