But the directions that I was given was to remove/drain all of the current water in the system completely after the boiler has cooled off. Then add the cleaner. Now what I did was to add a shark bite “T”and poured it into the system as I didn’t have another other place to put it in. Then I removed the “T” and replaced it with a coupler. But on a steam system I would think that you could add it to your radiator top vent and put it in then refill the system. After it’s refilled your going to run it if a few days. I’m doing mine a little longer, like 10 days. So during that time the chemical is going to move around and clean the system. Just make sure you turn off the boiler before you start doing any work on it. I hope that this helps **Q: How many gallons will this treat?** A: My bottle says that it will treat up to 34 US gallons. ## Frequently Bought Together - Fernox 56599 F1 500 ml Central Heating Protector - Fernox 57882 F3 System Cleaner 1 Pint - Fernox 62436 Central Heating Protector F1 Express - 400ML --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/92537112-56599-f1-500-ml-central-heating-protector](https://www.desertcart.no/products/92537112-56599-f1-500-ml-central-heating-protector) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-14*
