## Overview

The Cafelat Group Gasket-E61 (Red) is a premium 8mm thick food-grade silicone replacement gasket designed for modern E61 espresso group heads. It offers a tasteless, odorless upgrade over traditional rubber gaskets, providing a durable, easy-to-install seal that improves espresso quality by preventing leaks and pressure loss. Trusted by baristas and home pros alike, it ensures the perfect portafilter lock-in position for flawless extraction every time.

## Description

Premium Cafelat group gaskets are made from food grade FDA silicone. Unlike regular gaskets that are made from rubber, these do not have any smell or taste whatsoever, and are easy to change since they will not bake rock hard like rubber does. If you have ever struggled to change an old gasket you cannot help but notice the awful smell and the black soot that comes off the rubber. And that is what you are potentially consuming with each drink. Cafelat has spent months testing and adjusting the material so that these have the same compression strength as rubber, but are also softer so that it is easier to create a good seal. The replica E61 groups made these days are pretty much all the same, the different machine manufacturers then use either an 8mm or an 8.5mm group gasket. This is the red, thinner 8mm gasket. The thickness of the gasket will determine the “lock-in” position of the portafilter handle. Ideally you want the handle to lock in directly towards you (6 o’clock position). If the gasket is too thin it will lock in too far. If the gasket is too thick it will not lock in enough. Please note that although the gaskets are strong under compression, you should never use a sharp tool like a screwdriver to install them. This may tear the silicone.

Review: Measure your old gasket first! - You should really measure your old gasket first, or at least confirm what the OEM size of your original gasket is. I quickly assumed the gasket in my Lelit Mara was a 8mm and ordered accordingly. It fit, but required an excessive amount of tightening to get the portafilter to seal; well past the 6-O-Clock position. I measure my OEM rubber gasket and found it to be 9mm. I reordered the 'blue' 8.5mm gasket and it's a much nicer fit. The portafilter tightens a little past the 6-O-Clock position, but much better than the 'red' 8mm gasket. The silicone is sturdy and seals very well, no leaks like my old rubber gasket was giving me, and I'm getting better shots since I'm not losing pressure to a leaky gasket. If you have an E61-style grouphead this is a good replacement gasket and a nice upgrade from a rubber one. It's inexpensive and very easy to replace. Also, get in there and do a good cleaning while you have the shower screen out. :-)
Review: Rancilio Silvia - Fit my Rancilio Silvia perfectly.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone tried one of these in a Rocket/ECM Giotto? It's an E61 but not sure all are alike.**
A: Just installed in my ECM Giotto and it's a perfect fit. I read that if your handle is a little worn, the 8.5 is better than the 8mm version, but this one works fine for me. Very happy

**Q: Will this fit an older pasquini livia 90? 8mm or 8.5mm? i believe livia 90 is basically a bezerra but not sure which model it is like**
A: Actually it fits just fine... depending on which of the 3 listed you mean. The red (orange?) E61 8mm gasket is the same size Bezzera / Pasquini shown on Pasquini's site for sale for $8.50 (plus shipping.) Just check the image and you should see imprinted on the gasket "Coffewerks" and "E61 8". In other words, E61 and 8mm. That being said, my Livia 90 has been around for decades and I found the 8mm size was maybe a little too thin. The portafilter ends up turning an extra 30 degrees past center. So maybe 8.5mm might be better for a machine with more wear. Also, this type gasket doesn't fit all Livia 90s (SN >24000 or beginning LA or LS). Check to make sure which type you need.

**Q: Will the red 8mm fit my ecm casa v?**
A: What is your group head? E61? In that case you need a 8.5 mm gasket.

**Q: will this fit my astra 1 machine**
A: I believe it will, (if the dimensions in my manual are correct!) although I do see some recommendations for the slightly thicker 8.5mm gasket. These should fit most Astra, Conti, Expobar, Faema, Futurmat, Quickmill, Vibiemme, and other modern E61 groups, but there are quite a few variations among models and manufacturing years.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rancilio Silvia

Fit my Rancilio Silvia perfectly.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Blue Gasket Fixes Lelit Elizabeth Leaking
*by B***W on May 31, 2026*

This gasket fixes the sealing/leaking issue with the Lelit Elizabeth. Have had two brand new Elizabeth's, both leak terribly from the portafilter seal. The blue Cafelat silicone gasket is slightly oversized for the Elizabeth, your portifilter handle will not lock perfectly at 6:00 when the gasket is new, but it allows you to get a tight seal and stops the leaking issue that these machines have out of the box. Over time the seal will wear in, allowing the handle to come to the full 6:00 position when locked.
