General Hydroponics pH Up

The GH pH Up comes in a robust, opaque plastic gallon jug, which is crucial for protecting the contents from light degradation. The "blue" color in the description refers to the typical coloration of the liquid (often due to the potassium hydroxide), not the bottle itself. As a concentrated solution, it feels substantial. The cap is secure, and the handle design makes pouring manageable. Pros: Highly Effective pH Increaser: At its core, GH pH Up does exactly what it's supposed to: it reliably and effectively raises the pH of your nutrient solution or water. It's a potent base (primarily potassium hydroxide, often with potassium carbonate) that gets the job done quickly. Premium Buffering for Stability: Beyond just raising pH, the "premium buffering" aspect is key. GH formulates this to help stabilize your pH, meaning it resists drifting back down quickly after adjustment. This reduces the frequency of needing to re-adjust, saving time and reducing stress on your plants. Stable pH ensures consistent nutrient availability. Reliable and Trusted Brand: General Hydroponics has been a cornerstone of the hydroponics industry for decades. Their products are well-researched, widely used, and trusted by both amateur and professional growers. This instills confidence in its quality and consistency. Nutrient-Rich Components (Potassium): Unlike some generic pH adjusters, GH pH Up typically uses potassium hydroxide as its active ingredient. This means that while you're raising pH, you're also subtly adding a beneficial macronutrient (potassium) to your plants, which plays a vital role in flowering, fruiting, and overall plant vigor. Convenient 1-Gallon Size: For medium to large-scale growers, or those with multiple systems, the 1-gallon size offers excellent value and reduces the need for frequent re-purchases of smaller bottles. It's a cost-effective option for ongoing pH management. Easy to Use (with caution): While potent, it's easy to use with standard pH testing kits or meters. Adding small, controlled amounts allows for precise adjustments. Cons: Highly Concentrated (Requires Caution): This is a very strong base. It is corrosive and requires careful handling. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, eye protection) and add it slowly to your solution, away from your face. Keep out of reach of children and pets. This isn't a flaw of the product, but a critical user instruction. Can Raise EC/TDS (Minor): Because it adds potassium, using significant amounts of pH Up can slightly increase the Electrical Conductivity (EC) or Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of your nutrient solution. This is usually negligible unless you're making extreme adjustments, but it's something to be aware of if you're meticulously monitoring EC. Storage Considerations: Being a strong chemical, it requires proper storage in a cool, dark place, away from other chemicals or potential contaminants. Overall Input & Verdict: General Hydroponics pH Up Liquid is an indispensable tool for any serious grower, particularly in hydroponics where pH control is paramount. It excels in reliably increasing and stabilizing pH, which directly translates to healthier plants and optimized nutrient uptake. The added benefit of potassium and the trusted GH brand reputation make it a superior choice compared to generic alternatives. While its concentrated nature demands respectful and cautious handling, its effectiveness and buffering capabilities make it a cornerstone of successful plant cultivation. For consistent, robust growth and peace of mind in pH management, the 1-gallon size of GH pH Up is a highly recommended, long-term investment.

Great ph up control. Very strong.

Gets it balanced

It makes the OH- go up!

I use this alot to ph balance my water for my plants. I like to keep my water pH around 6 and this helps a lot to balance it out before adding nutrients to the water supply.

Works as it should return customer with five star rating

Arrived quick great price compared to what I was paying.

Works very well.

I gave 5/5 for value for money because this stuff is so powerful that only a couple of drops (less than 1 tsp) will do the job for a gallon of water. I gave 3/5 for easy to use because it's easy to mess up and over adjust because of how concentrated it is. My advice: get yourself an eye-dropper, and make sure you have a pH meter. It was a steep learning curve, but now that I got the hang of it I love this product
