**Q: Can I use this to listen to without a license?**
A: Yes you can, but I warn you...you'll want to get your licence. Ppl tried for 20 years to get me to get my licence...what finally lit a fire under me? A friend programmed a handheld ham to the local frequency everyone uses. I was ready to test in 3 days and tested in 5 LOL. Listening is ok, talking is better.

**Q: I ordered the ft-2980r. will i need an antenna tuner if i use the "magnetic mobile antenna ham radio 2 meter / 70 cm 140 to 150 and 440 to 470 mhz"?**
A: This radio has variable power options available, you very rarely need the 80 watts.  Less than 30 watts will do for 90% of the time.

**Q: Whats the different between this device and the yaesu ft-2900r?**
A: This is the newer updated version of the discontinued FT-2900R . The main difference is this unit has a higher output power of 80 Watts.

**Q: Does this have a data jack on the back for a Signalink?**
A: No - Not on this model
