Newly updated edition of the highly successful core text for using cognitive behaviour therapy with children and young people The previous edition of Think Good, Feel Good was an exciting, practical resource that pioneered the way mental health professionals approached Cognitive Behaviour Therapy with children and young people. This new edition continues the work started by clinical psychologist Paul Stallard, and provides a range of flexible and highly appealing materials that can be used to structure and facilitate work with young people. In addition to covering the core elements used in CBT programmes, it incorporates ideas from the third wave CBT therapies of mindfulness, compassion focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. It also includes a practical series of exercises and worksheets that introduce specific concepts and techniques. Developed by the author and used extensively in clinical practice, Think Good, Feel Good, Second Edition: A CBT Workbook for Children and Young People starts by introducing readers to the origin, basic theory, and rationale behind CBT and explains how the workbook should be used. Chapters cover elements of CBT including identifying thinking traps; core beliefs; controlling feelings; changing behaviour; and more. Written by an experienced professional with all clinically tested material Fully updated to reflect recent developments in clinical practice Wide range of downloadable materials Includes ideas for third wave CBT, Mindfulness, Compassion Focused Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Think Good, Feel Good, Second Edition: A CBT Workbook for Children and Young People is a "must have" resource for clinical psychologists, child and adolescent psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses, educational psychologists, and occupational therapists. It is also a valuable resource for those who work with young people including social workers, school nurses, practice counsellors, teachers and health visitors. Review: it's ok - It is ok. I prefer the self-help workbook curriculum which is broken down into sections that can be used during session but are not too long to overwhelm the client. This one is not set up good, does not give practical application to thinks taught or asked, etc. If I have to use the book I will but it is not one I like to use and it normally sits on my bookshelf unused. Review: Great - Good resources

Valuable resource for parents of young children with mental health issues
A useful resource for parents whose children are receiving mental health support. The target age range is 7 to 14. It explains Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) covering the theory and practice. It includes activities to do with children and can help parents with the knowledge and awareness to support and reinforce CBT sessions at home. The text is well laid out with some colour and illustrations breaking up the text.

Great for a child with anxiety
I worked through this book with my daughter who has a few anxiety issues due to a past teacher at school, she was 8 at the time. It took a long time for her to learn to deal with the issues but eventually we started to see a difference and the vibrant little girl that had disappeared into a life of anxiety and tics has come back. A few weeks ago my daughter had an issue with a bully at school and she looked over the book herself and found it helpful. She is now a happy girl again.

Brilliant resource for parents and practitioners.
I'm a teacher in a secure children's home and I chose this as I felt some of the activities and ideas would support teachers' delivery of their lessons or to work differently with those that were in their tutor group. We've all accessed the resources in different ways and as a centre we've given this resource a resounding yes. It's an amazing resource with a well of information fully supported online with references to other research or ideas. From a different perspective, as a parent of two young children with one of whom is exhibiting some signs of anxiety I've found it useful for dipping in and out of with him. Can't recommend it highly enough.
