Review: Works very well -- love that i can sweep up debris from an upright stance. - I watched the videos about this set before purchasing and that helped me decide to buy the OXO set. It is easy to use, stand on its own for storage and I like having the option of lengthening the handle on the broom. I also like not having to bend down to sweep debris into the pan. It is a little bit heavy that attests to how well made it is and should last. It is easy to empty the pan contents into the wastebasket and easy also to wipe the pan out to keep it clean. The "comb" that helps remove debris from the brush is very useful.

First, I opened the box fairly late one evening, so I had to wait until morning to try it out (ya wouldn't think a broom and dustpan would get you as excited as if you were 8 yrs old and getting a Red Rider BB Gun). The 2 things that bother me the most when sweeping is A. pulling all the hair and dust bunnies out of the broom and B the continual bending over which gets to be quite painful because of my lower back. So first off, I didn't have to bend over at all. I swept the bathroom. I swept the hall. It was almost too easy. HA! And you've probably read other reviews of the orange "teeth" that stick out, so you can pull the broom bristles thru them to dislodge the hair/dust bunnies. FABULOUS!! I have 2 long hair cats and I have long hair and then the dust bunnies (tried to find the parents and toss them outside but haven't been able to locate them, so they just keep making more dust bunny babies) - the orange teeth comb all that stuff right out of the broom bristles. And then there was a reviewer who took issue with there not being a hump towards the outer edge of the dust pan (like the bend-over short handle dust pans have). It is GREAT that there is not that hump. and the orange edge is narrow enough with a tad of flex so that and having no hump to get the dust, and stuff over, makes it super easy to move stuff into the dust bin. And I had no trouble keeping the crud in the bin until I emptied it. And the broom. It's a great broom. Bristles not too soft so they can sweep stuff out of cracks with no problem. And not too stiff either, so it's perfect for smooth surfaces or surfaces with a little texture. And the adjusting handle length is super handy. And I have no trouble with the length staying where I put it: quarter turn to loosen the upper part, slide to desired length, and quarter turn back to lock it in place. I used to dread sweeping (and I have an uncarpeted home, so there is plenty to sweep). Now I can just fly thru any sweeping job, with no bending over and no grabbing dust bunnies out of the bristles. And the fact that the 2 pieces clamp together and it is self supporting (it stands up on it's own) is excellent. Love love love it.

**Q: Does the dustpan fold up so you can put this away in a narrow space?**
A: Yes the dustpan folds up

**Q: How does this broom retract from extended position to shorter one? Mine seems to have locked into the extended position!**
A: If you hold it by the lower pole and twist the upper pole counter-clockwise, it will unlock. Twist the pole clockwise to lock it again.

**Q: I cant adjust the length of the broom.  It keeps sliding up and down. I've tried everything.  Can anyone help me with this?**
A: I have had no problems with adjusting mine, yours may have a defect. When it gets to the length I need, I simply twist it as tight as possible, and untwist when done to have it properly fit into the dustpan and handle for storage.

**Q: How long is the broom when it is not extended? Can’t seem to find that dimension**
A: The broom is 35” not extended and the pan & handle are 38 3/4” tall.

I watched the videos about this set before purchasing and that helped me decide to buy the OXO set. It is easy to use, stand on its own for storage and I like having the option of lengthening the handle on the broom. I also like not having to bend down to sweep debris into the pan. It is a little bit heavy that attests to how well made it is and should last. It is easy to empty the pan contents into the wastebasket and easy also to wipe the pan out to keep it clean. The "comb" that helps remove debris from the brush is very useful.

I thought $33 bucks for a broom and dust pan was a bit high, but after reading a zillion reviews on this and several similar sets, I bit the bullet and got this. OMG. Double OMG. The 2 things that bother me the most when sweeping is A. pulling all the hair and dust bunnies out of the broom and B the continual bending over which gets to be quite painful because of my lower back. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ easy to sweep one-handed

Excellent light grey color and silver-aluminum works well in the kitchen, and made this purchase viable given the unusable colors of hi-viz yellow, safety orange, red, or black brooms so many offer. The orange trim details are tolerable but I'd rather see OXO offer this with a similarly subtle blue or green trim. Excellent build quality and function--when it arrives, you should check that the dustpan's edge is straight and flat as reviews show there have been wavy-edged dustpans delivered. Mine was straight and proper so maybe OXO has worked this out better. In general I find OXO to be the high quality leader in small kitchen tools. I seldom prefer OXO's electrical appliances, but they're the best for kitchen tools like drainboards, brooms, tools. This OXO broom/dustpan is no exception in that the aluminum shafts have top quality finish with good handle and fixture details; the broom is full and feathered and easy to use with a smaller size that is perfect for the one-handed use I have for it. The broom / dustpan combination is a pleasure to use and actually makes me want to do the little chores this is for. check the labels for how to tighten the adjustable shaft at your desired length, but be patient if it doesn't tighten right away. At first I thought mine wouldn't tighten and would need to be returned but as I worked with it I found the threads engaged and it tightened solidly. I use its shortest setting which is perfect. I was looking for a mid-sized / shorter broom that was easy to use one-handed with a dustpan held by the other hand. I'm 5'11" so not in need of a short broom generally, but sweeping one-handed with a full height broom doesn't work for me. The smaller broom fits easily into the dustpan for storage without harming bristles; the dustpan clicks to stay open as you move from small mess to mess sweeping with one hand into the dustpan held with the other hand for the most efficient quickest cleanup use; then the two shafts click together for the easiest storage in a narrow space while the excellent colors mean it can be stored visibly and not have to be hidden in a closet. Really it's perfect.
