The picks have a pointed end for regular picking. This end is nicely designed with a triangular shape to best fit between the bottom of your dentition, none of that round or flat wooden toothpick design. But the crowning achievement of these picks is the brush end. Insert it between teeth and rotate it as you move back and forth. I have yet to find anything that the brush can't dislodge (although if the material is really wedged between the teeth, I would suggest with an initial displacement using the pointed end followed by using the brush end). Personally, I use one pick for the top (maxillary) and one for the bottom (mandibular) dentition after every meal. The only suggestion is not to overdo it with the brush end as in rare situations it has broken off, but this was because of my over-zealousness using it and lack of consideration. If this happens, just use another one to dislodge the broken brush end.
