Bought a year ago, quiet, powerful and amazing!
Bought the "WSS30V combination sump pump system" about a year ago. After a year of use I think I can give it a proper review now. First things first, packaging looked really good and things were held well and no parts were damaged. Having this all in one kit was exactly what i needed and it is at an attractive price for what you get. I had quoted a few specialists to add a backup system to my sump pump and they all tried to upsell various things. After doing some research I found this kit solved my major issues. I wanted a redundant pump with a battery backup, I wanted a quiet pump that won't vibrate the house, and I wanted reliability since our sump pump gets a lot of use after heavy rains. I hadn't done PVC plumbing before but was quickly able to figure out installation on this with some youtube videos. I also upgraded my check valve to a silent check valve. When I hooked up everything and did a test run I was amazed at how quiet the pump was. I could barely tell it was running. Tested the battery backup and pump and those operated very well too. I did put the battery box on an elevated shelf. Left a hose running to visualize what kind of flow rate it could keep up with and i was impressed. Since installing this pump I was worried it will get louder with use but in the year since it has been installed we've gotten perhaps 4 storms with 1000-2000 total cycles each time and the pump is still whisper quiet. I test the backup every now and then and it works well too. Haven't needed it yet, but i've let it run for 1 hour after a storm and it kept up no problem. It is such a nice feeling being able to sleep in peace during a storm and not worry as much when traveling. When it is time to replace this I'll probably just buy the same kit. Thanks for such a great product Wayne.

Suburban sub 40 year old Father/DIYer
I bought and installed this 3 years ago. I’ve had no issues this entire time. Installation was so easy because everything is pre-assembled and easy for you to prepare the fittings prior to install. We are on low ground between our neighbors so we get a ton of water entry into our pit every spring (including right this second). This thing has worked hard and performed wonderfully. I have the Wayne battery and check valve as well and I’ve had no issues with either. The check valve is my only concern since it has a ton of failure points and has plastic components and relies upon rubber couplings. I did have a TINY bit of water finding its way out of the check valve but that’s because I needed to tighten the nuts against the rubber gasket. Fixed the tiny issue in 30 seconds. I do exercise the backup pump every once in a while so it doesn’t seize. All in all, a fantastic product.

Nice setup that's at a nice price.
Easy to setup, wire-up, and get into place. Was a little-bit of a tight fit with both pumps in my pit, but they fit together facing opposite directions. These pumps are quiet, fast, and after 3 months, reliable. Battery backup has been tested a few times manually, and still seems to work well. I'm very comfortable with the setup. It took about 20-30 minutes total to setup with a Y-joint pipe and check valve cutting a new pipe to join the two, and I zip-tied the float to the pipe and tested with a water pour to be sure it wouldn't snag or hesitate. The battery I used was Casil 100 AH Deep Cycle AGM CA121000 SLA Solar/RV battery for $185, which got top ratings and matched the terminal requirements. I Mated this kit to a Wayne CDU980E 3/4 HP pump using the PumpSpy Dual Pump Install Kit and a Raybend,"Silent" Sump Pump Check Valve, 1-1/2" that I had installed prior to hooking up the backup pump kit. Altogether, I spent about $820-$850, which is much less than the $1800 I was priced for a 1/2, 1/3 HP kit by a local plumber. Between the two pump installs, drilling and mods, and running 3 more drain lines that were never installed originally (Heater, tank, A/C condensation, and Humidifier) it took me about 60-70 minutes for all of the work, testing, and cable dressing. At $860 - $1000/hr for after-tax labor, it was well-worth my time, and surprisingly very easy to do. I may add pics later, if I have the time. Don't bother with the unsealed batteries, and the Li-ion's aren't worth the price, especially, as they cold pose a fire hazard in the humid environment you'll be using them in - unless you know the maker well and can trust the quality of the sealed system - especially since this charging system doesn't have the electronics to protect against surges or overcharging of Li-ion batteries. This system shouldn't go through enough cycles to make it worthwhile anyway. In fact, with the reliable power I have at my house, I really only need a standard 12V car or lawn-tractor battery, but it's worth the comfort of knowing this will last and have the capacity if the power goes out for awhile.

Excellent Customer Service/Warranty
I purchased this a little over two years ago. It was perfect and helped eliminate my stress of worrying about a power outage. The unit is super quiet. I only hear the water gush through my pipes when in the room directly above it; not a single hint of a motor noise. Everything worked great for the first two years I had it, but earlier this week I had my first power outage of this year. I wasn't worried, because this unit did what you expected it to, use the battery backup. I left my house for a few hours and came back to the screeching siren of my water sensor going off near my sump hole. Lo and behold the battery backup wasn't working! I immediately thought my battery died, so I hooked up a volt meter to confirm. Nope! Battery was fine. Okay, I thought, maybe the float was stuck. Again no! I tested the resistance of the sensor and it came back the way I'd expect, infinite resistance when the float wasn't triggered and < 15 ohms resistance when the float was triggered. I checked the fuse, and that looked fine. At this point, I was rather confused. There were no lights lit up on my unit, but my battery, float switch, and fuse were fine. As another attempt to troubleshoot, I connected my computer's UPS up to the DC brick that powered the backup electronics. Immediately the lights turned on and the battery backup pump turned on. After running for the 20 some seconds, I pushed the test button and the battery pump ran again. I unplugged the giant wall brick from my UPS and the unit made a high pitch chirp sound for a split second. I've determined my battery backup will only use the battery if the giant wall plug brick is powered. I know this wasn't always the case. I called Wayne customer service, and they recommemded I have a mechanic shop load test the battery. I did, and everything is fine with the battery. I called them a second time. Within 10 minutes the gal said she'd send me a replacement control box. I only had to provide her my serial # and name/address since it was still under warranty. 2 weeks later, my control box replacement arrived, and everything is working as expected. I commend Wayne for making it super easy to get my broken component replaced.

90% Happy with this very quiet new pump, the battery box could be better
My house is only two years old but the original sump pump failed already. The builder installed a Victory VIC92260 ¼ HP pump. It’s a private label brand sold exclusively by a local supply house. The built-in float failed on and I caught it running in a dry well. It was still under warranty for another year but I decided it was the right time to upgrade. I travel out of town and wanted the piece of mind of a more robust pump and a battery backup. After a lot of research it came down to either Wayne or Zoeller. The deciding factors were: Wayne was clearly the more popular unit, at least with homeowners; The Wayne pumps use a top flow design that should prevent air binding and it allows the pumps to be placed on the bottom without the use of bricks; Wayne updated the 12V backup pump from plastic to a metal design. The Wayne unit comes pre-assembled in a nice solid relatively compact package. My sump pit is 16” wide by 21” deep and I had no problems with the installation. The primary and secondary pump are plumbed together into a 1-½” PVC wye fitting. I glued a 2-½” long piece into the factory wye fitting with a Fernco P1056-150 coupling for easy of installation and future maintenance. Then I added a new check valve. The Wayne unit comes pre-plumbed with a check valve on each pump. They had to do that to make sure a running pump pushes water out of the pit and not back through the other pump. However if you don’t install your own check valve or ball valve to isolate the water in the discharge pipe, any future maintenance will be a watery mess. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase The primary AND secondary pumps are powerful and very quiet. I use to hear the old sump pump go off every time throughout the house. Now I can barely hear either one of them run, even while down in the basement. The only catch is that the backup pump controller has two audible alarms. When the controller loses 120VAC, it sounds a 30 sec alarm. Also every time the 12V backup pump runs the controller sounds a short alarm burst. They are loud in the basement but barely noticeable upstairs. The only thing I would improve is the backup pump controller and battery box. There some issues with Wayne’s system, one big and two little. The big issue is that they chose to build the controller into a standard battery box. This takes up space in the box and restricts your battery options. Wayne calls for a 75 Amp-hour 27-FRAME battery but most off the shelf batteries are too tall to fit into the restricted space. The first little issue is that controller comes pre-wired with ring terminals that require 5/16” bolts. Most commodity marine batteries don’t have 5/16” or M8 terminals. Fortunately the “Mighty Max Battery 12V 75Ah SLA Battery” available here on Amazon does fit inside the battery box and includes the necessary hardware. The other little issue, one that most people probably won’t care about, is the lack of Aux contacts. Many competitors provide Aux contacts on the battery controller for integration with Security Systems. There isn't’ any easy way to integrate the controller into a security system. Pros: Build quality Ease of installation Quiet operation Cons: Battery box is small No Aux contacts from the controller

Excellent Back-Up Pump
After research, this was our choice for a back-up pump to our Zoeller M53 main pump and, after installation and use, we are happy with it and recommend it. For back-up pumps, it looks like there are 4 choices: - This Wayne pump WSB1275 - PumpSpy PS2000 - Cheaper, low flow back-ups - Local pumps (eg, Trusty Warns) sold by plumbing companies, costing ~$1400 The local pump option was too spendy and there's no logic in buying a back-up pump that is tiny and has low output - the flow rate from the back-up should be similar to the main pump - if the power goes out and the back-up kicks in, it would be a travesty if it can't keep up and water flows out of the bucket. The PumpSpy is a larger pump with higher than typical flow rate (eg, 2400 gph @ 10' head) and it connects to WiFi to and will send an e-mail when it engages. The Wayne pump flow rate (1680 gph @ 10' head) is similar to our good Zoeller M53 pump (2000 gph @ 10' head) but doesn't connect to Wifi. Getting an e-mail when the pump kicks in would be nice but it's not that important to us. And, the over $200 difference between those two pumps is in Wayne's favor. Some things about this Wayne WSB1275 pump: - The float is not attached to the pump and this independence allows for the float to be installed at the right elevation. The pump is on a cord that connects to the controller. - When the float activates the pump, the pump runs for 20 seconds then shuts off. So, the float needs to be installed high enough so the pump runs for about 20 seconds to prevent the pump from running dry. This takes some finagling and trial/error to figure out. Also, it's nice to be able to position the float away from anything it could get stuck on, like the ribbed plastic sump basket or the other pump. - The alarm isn't overly loud and only engages for about 2 seconds when the pump starts. I saw another review where the person said the alarm was too loud. I think it's too quiet and that it should run longer. We can hear it upstairs, just if the furnace fan is running it can drowned out. - I had a large marine battery from my former custom system and was able to use that with this, so that was nice. Overall, I really like it. The pump is solid, the float works well, and it's simple in a nice way.

Good basic backup with powerful pump
I had basement watchdog for decades, nothing but trouble with that brand, sent it back for service and exchanges, they never got it right ... do not buy basement watchdog, it is a bad product, I can't go into detail here but I have a long story with them. This Wayne setup is exactly what I like, just a trickle charger, you can supply your own large deep cycle battery and it has a manual test button for you to check it yourself. It was the automatic features of the basement watchdog that never worked right and it test ran the pump daily while either overcharging or undercharging the battery, constantly beeping for malfunctions and damaging batteries. This Wayne setup gets rid of the trouble prone automatic test features. It gives me just what I want. It does have a battery condition indicator and a beeper to tell me if the pump runs or power fails so I know there is a problem with the main pump. I can test it myself monthly. This is all I want, keep it simple. And the pump is powerful, larger more powerful than the basement watchdog. My main pump is also Wayne, and this pump looks a lot like it except 12 volt operation and a different float switch. I have a 16" diameter sump crock and both units fit inside together. I can't rate tech support because I didn't need it. Installation was simple. One thing though, it requires a 1-1/2" threaded adapter to whatever size drain pipe you are using (mine is 1.5" pvc) and it does not come with this, so be sure to order this piece also to avoid delay. I bought the Wayne adapter that will clamp to either 1.5" or 1.25" pvc. They really could just include this with the system, it's not expensive (if you're listening, Wayne). I think Wayne makes a fully automatic system like basement watchdog, don't know if it's any better, but whatever you do stay away from basement watchdog.

Easy installation
Everything was assembled and ready to drop in. After I purchased a battery the installation process took less than 30 minutes. I would recommend to anyone looking for a sump pump with battery backup.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Powerful and Surprisingly Quiet!
This sump pump works flawlessly. It kicks on quickly, moves water efficiently, and does the job without any loud rattling or vibration. I was impressed by how quiet it is—you can barely hear it running, which is a huge plus compared to my old pump. Installation was straightforward, and the build quality feels solid and durable. If you want a reliable pump that’s both powerful and quiet, this is an excellent choice!

Appears to be a goid 24v replacement
Product received in good shape & as promised. Havent installed yet. If its as good as the 24 volt original system (mtce free, reliable, heavy pumper, no worries over the 20 years in place), then I will he a happy homeowner. Thanks.

Well made and works great!
I found the unit to be well made and compact in design. The pump will move alot of water and is virtually silent. I bought a battery locally and am impressed with the run time when the power is out. If you have extended power outages buy the largest battery that will fit the supplied battery case. The audible alarms are useful but not very loud. Overall, an impressive unit that is worth every penny.

Peace of mind
I decided to get this sump pump one night when it was raining heavy and my current pump was running every 4-5 minutes. (I could hear it from the basement) It was 10 pm and I wondered to myself, ‘what would I do right now if the pump quit at this moment or the power went out?’ I don’t know the age of my old pump as it came with the house when I bought it a few years ago. So I decided to research sump pumps and after reading reviews from customers and professionals, I decided to get this one. It was more expensive than others, but the cost, and headache, of repairing a water damaged basement is so much more. Install was easy. The only thing you have to know, is that they don’t tighten and screws or nuts on the supplied backflow valve. So be sure to check those. Mine was leaking initially until I tightened them up. The unit is amazingly quiet. Even standing over it while it is running, it’s hard to hear it. Other than the sound of water as it’s being pumped through the pipes. I really like having the battery powered backup pump. Sets my mind at ease now when it’s raining, not worrying about a power outage or main pump failure. That alone is worth the price.
