can this make stroopwafel ?

I would imagine you could. Just make a caramel sauce and layer between two waffles. :-)

What is the difference between models 838 and 838-SE ?

About $15. Whatever the difference is it is not worth the additional cost. Buy the 838. It works as advertised.

can you make waffle ice cream tacos

Certainly! I've even made rolled cookies with it. Until it cools and hardens, the waffle can be shaped all sorts of ways. Experiment with the batter recipes--some are thicker than others and will make a stronger taco.

Is this unit rated NSF or ETL for commercial use?

I found this information on line so this is not my own saying but it's what I could find on this waffle maker. Results 1 - 40 of 1500 - Chef's Choice 838 Waffle Cone Express Ice Cream ..... Designed for regular commercial use, it's both NSF ... cETLus, ETL, NSF, ANSI 4 ( Eurodib - WECCHBAT ) ...
