With the turmeric and ginger I had bought before, it took me several tries to get it to grow, and the first generation struggled. I had purchased them from the supermarket, or from reputable catalogs...still it was a struggle. These roots were enormous, as if fresh dug that day, and I no sooner put them in the ground than they popped up like daisies and have been growing great guns ever since! The juice from the root I did not plant was plentiful and pungent, perfect for cooking/baking. I'd definitely order from them again!

**Q: I live in zone 4b, do I have to plant Galangal in a container that needs to wintered inside?**
A: Since this plant is a native of zone 15 (or so) it would be appropriate to at least find a nice down jacket for it. Also, thai peppers keep things hot. Try those.No... Really... This is not an outdoor plant for you.

**Q: Do I get it like in the picture? I want it for planting.**
A: No sprouts.  My pieces were large an old.  I was not satisfied.

**Q: I ordered it but how do I plant it? Do I need to sprout it?**
A: You try to take the land. Luddite into the soil. The soil excavated burial ground water reduction morning to evening. The fertilizer. Soon it will sprout roots. Try planting.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great fresh rhizomes! Took a while to grow.

I bought these back in January. Cooked with some, left some in the fridge. Jammed one into some dirt under a grow light in my hydro setup. Sat there for months, then finally showed a little green. Gradually pushed out like some kind of wart. Finally around May it pushed out a couple of stems, then it took off. I had it on the back deck all summer, brought it in for the Winter. The photo is from September 25 - it's 3 ft tall! Three weeks later it's flowering! Really cool. I'm hoping by Spring to be able to start stealing rhizomes for my Tom Kha !
