Product Description Eliminate ticks and fleas from your pet with this completely safe and chemical free electronic comb. A safe and effective way of removing and killing both fleas and ticks from your pet’s coat. The built-in electronic teeth provide a harmless voltage that is fatal to fleas and ticks. As the comb passes through your pet’s fur, a flashing LED light indicates that fleas are present, killing them instantly on contact. Can also be used on human hair for eliminating nits and head lice. Requires 2 x AA Batteries (not supplied). Directions 1. To insert batteries, open the snap cap using a small tool (e.g. pen or screwdriver). 2. Insert two 1.5V AA batteries into the battery compartment according to the polarity label then replace cover. 3. Push the teeth lever down to release the comb’s teeth, it is now read to use. 4. During operation, hold the handle keeping the button pushed down, the LED indicator lights up. When any conductor or small wingless insects (like fleas or ticks) come into contact with the charged comb’s teeth, they discharge a high voltage, the LED indictor light goes off and the unit emits a buzzing sound. 5. If there is no buzzing sound or hair is attached to the comb’s teeth, clean the teeth using a brush. 6. After combing your pets, put the lever back to protect the teeth. P.when('A').execute(function(A) { A.on('a:expander:toggle_description:toggle:collapse', function(data) { window.scroll(0, data.expander.$expander[0].offsetTop-100); }); }); Safety Warning 1. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly as incorrect installation will damage the unit. 2. Remove batteries if unit has not been used for over 4 weeks. 3. Do not use on wet fur or hair. 4. Do not use on cut skin or open wounds. 5. Do not touch metal comb head. not very effective
For me this item was a complete waste of money, I have 2 cats, one cat wouldn't let me near her with this comb, I suspect because of the noise it makes, my other cat did allow me to comb her but didn't detect any fleas, that isn't because she doesn't have them (combed some out later with a normal flea comb), maybe this comb would work better for dogs, I think a cats fur is just to fine and the comb is just to fiddly.

for animals only
I found it hard to hold the button as well as keeping hold of the cat, you do need to practice for a while before get the hang of it even then it's hard, I would not use on child head as ends catch and pull on hair.

Electronic Flea Detector / Killer Comb (259) No more nits or Fleas
I found this comb did not live up to expectations. When ever I use it the retractable teeth retract into the comb. To use it I had to tape the level down so the comb would work. My cats did not like the whine the comb made when it was on. I wasn't happy about having to hold the On Button down while combing the cats to keep it working. After about four or five goes I've decided to no-long use it.[[ASIN:B002QPHUJ6 Electronic Flea Detector / Killer Comb (259) No more nits or Fleas.
