is the material inside this pillow chemical free?

There is no such thing as chemical free in manufacturing. If you have allergies, avoid anything that is a "cooling gel", "memory foam", or anything other than excessively natural fill. Technically even down and cotton are chemically treated in order to be made available, but maybe less so than things marketed as cooling.
