The exterior material is velour type of material for some reason the wig hugs onto. I had issues with wig not falling off, but moving to one side or back. With this band the edges of the wig are more secure. I have worn wigs and hair pieces since I was 5 years old and I'm 65. This wig grip I have found works best for no wig movement.
