Pilot, of course, makes quality pens. This pen doesn't blob or have to have the tip cleaned off before writing. It glides smoothly & easily across the paper. It makes cursive writing a pleasure. I have arthritis & am partially paralyzed. How hard a pen is to push across paper makes a big difference to me. Also how much effort is required to hold the critter so that it doesn't go on a solo writing adventure across my table....Yes the grip matters a lot to me. This has a good grip, slightly contoured, with that tiny, tiny bit of stickiness that makes it easier to hold. The grip is standard sized,not fat. The pen's total score is about an 8 out of 10 on my personal ergonomic-paralytic scale. I did not answer the "is this product GIFTABLE?" question. It looks like a nice everyday kinda work pen. However, if it were fancied up with an aluminum chassis, then yes, this would be an able-bodied 🎁 gift pen. Maybe PILOT already makes such a pen.

Love an affordable pen that writes smoothly - doesn't fight you as you push it around the paper. Also, seems to be least likely to "glop."

The first time I used an Pilot Acroball pen was when I found one on the school bus that I drive. I was really impressed with the feel and smoothness in writing which is effortless. The ink is applied smoothly and evenly. It is a great pen at a great price.

The ink is just right. Not too thin, not too thick. Not globby. Perfectly smooth.

The pens start out okay, but after sitting in a drawer for a couple months, they seem to dry up. You can get them working a little more but they are forever stopping.

It's affordable. Ink writes smooth clean lines, no bleeding. The pen has medium weight and is decently sturdy. I'm a nurse and it's my go-to pen. The push-cap is quick and convenient. I've tried out pens of various brands in a similar price range and this one outperforms the others very easily. If there's a downside, it's me constantly misplacing my pens and seeing my coworkers with them. And I have yet to have the pen run dry on me because of this.
