Age of Consent

Solía pensar que Manowar era el pionero de este estilo, pero hace más de 18 años llegó a mi mano un disco de Heavy load e inmediatamente un tema llamado "on the wings of the night" de una gran banda con un personaje con grandes dotes (David Defeis) tanto en la voz y en la creatividad; pero lamentablemente muy subestimada. Despues de muchos años porfin llegó a mis manos y puedo decir "Cry For Pompeii".definitivamente recomendable para todo amante del género épico y sobre todo del metal.

I just picked up the 2011 reissued Age Of Consent on double LP blue vinyl. I got it for a reasonable price at this past Record Store Day (April 18, 2015). The packaging is amazing: 180 gram blue vinyl, gatefold, liner notes with lyrics and pictures. This also includes bonus songs found on earlier reissues. The sound is tremendous. I missed getting this when it originally came out in the late 80's and my only familiarity with Virgin Steele ahead of this purchase was their Guardians Of The Flame LP which I had in the early 80's. By comparison to Guardians Of The Flame, Age Of Consent is much more mature in terms of sound, production, and overall song composition. While Guardians Of The Flame was one of my favorite LP's of the time Age Of Consent is so much more amazing.Standout songs for me are The Burning Of Rome, Lion In Winter, Perfect Mansions.David DeFeis' vocals on Perfect Mansions is incredible.I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of 80's hard rock and metal as well as fans of today's Power Metal. This band did not get the recognition it deserved back in the day, but the songs on this Age Of Consent reissue really hold up well for the time. Most of the songs could easily pass as new Power Metal. If you can get the vinyl package I very much recommend that above the CD. I am really happy with this purchase.

Bereits die Wiederveröffentlichung von Noble Savage war der pure Hammer und das Nachfolgealbum von 1988 "Age of Consent" wird beim 2011er ReRelease ebenfalls mit ordentlich Bonustracks aufgewertet.Zunächst haben wir die ursprünglichen Albumtracks (neu gemastert), zu denen etliche unsterbliche Power Metal Klassiker wie The Burning of Rome oder Lion in Winter gehören. Schlecht ist kein einziger Song auf der Scheibe und alleine für dieses ursprüngliche Album würde ich locker fünf Sterne geben. Von schnellen bis langsamen Songs ist alles vertreten.Darüber hinaus gibt es als Bonus die Tracks, die beim 1998er ReRelease hinzugefügt wurden. Darunter das epische Perfect Mansions, das für mich zu den besten Virgin Steele Songs aller Zeiten gehört.Des weiteren hat man 2 Judas Priest Coverversionen (Desert Plains und Screaming for Vengeance) mit draufgepackt, die irgendwann in den 80igern auf einem Priest Tribute Sampler veröffentlicht wurden. Also 2 echte Raritäten.Dem nicht genug haben Virgin Steele erneut einige Neuaufnahmen (darunter eine Gänsehaut Acoustic Version von Noble Savage) mit auf die Bonus CD gepackt. alle Tracks sind etwas langsamer und getragener. Sie entsprechen eher dem neueren Virgin Steele Style, sind aber dabei um Längen besser als alles auf dem letzten Album veröffentlicht wurde.Insofern, egal in welcher Version: man sollte dieses Album haben. Für dieses ReRelease würde ich auch locker sechs bis sieben Sterne vergeben.Spielzeit: Ca. 115 Minuten.

Sicuramente un doppio vinile da avere per gli amanti dell'hard rock e dell'epic metal. I vinili sono colorati blu e, a parte uno dei due che aveva alcuni toc ritmici e che mi ha costretto a farmi sostituire l'intero album con un'altra copia, suonano bene.Impeccabile Amazon nella serietà della garanzia. Vinili subito sostituiti con altra copia senza problemi. Il contenuto musicale è di alto livello per gli appassionati di rock. Album poco reclamizzato all'uscita ma da avere assolutamente nella propria collezione in compagnia di altri mostri sacri del rock..

Sowohl meine Freundin als auch ich sind große VS Fans. Dieser Re-Release ergänzt unsere Sammlung. Tolle Songs, toller Bonus-Content. Auf jeden Fall ein Muss für jede/n Heavy Metal Fan!
