NW-A55

TL;DR durable, simple, cheap, with very few faults. To begin, can we just agree that for the price, we're not paying for something incredible here. With that in mind, I think this is absolutely PERFECT as a low-cost, easy-to-use music player. I bought this about a year ago, and have had pretty much no complaints since then. Sick of iTunes being literally the most useless and slow piece of software ever invented? This, right here, is what you're looking for. Tranfering songs takes seconds, and it's perfectly simple. I do use the recommended software (music centre), but I'm pretty sure you don't have to, and can move music over just using the file system. It's that simple. The body is slick, and feels easy to hold. It's also super robust, I don't use a case and have dropped it multiple times. It's incredibly sturdy. As for the actual use of it, I read lots of complaints before I bought it about its useability. First off, you CAN make and edit playlists on the device (without going to your computer). You CAN scroll through your lists of music quickly (use the scroll bar on the right, it goes down the list by letter, just like your iphone does). So ignore those reviews, they clearly haven't figured that out. The touch screen isn't as soft and smooth as you'd get in your expensive £400+ phones, but I love it - it feels tough and durable, and I don't worry about tossing it about. As for what people are saying about it being slow, I think they're half right. It's not as fast as your phone or iPod, but what can you expect for this price? There is a slight lag when skipping through tracks, but I didn't find it irritating enough to say its a fault. Faults that I did find: - slightly heavier than I expected - the charging cable isn't your normal mini-usb, so it's annoying to have to fish out its very specific cable when needing to charge - slight lag when changing songs Big recommendation

The interface is peppy, smooth, well organized, and the text and album art are crisp and clear. It's a pleasure to use and navigate. When navigating the menus, a small icon gets you back to the playing song with one click. I usually prefer the ClearAudio mode when using headphones. I also connect the headphone out to the main stereo where I prefer to use a flat output response. However, there are a lot of audio processing options which are quite effective for when I feel like changing the output profile. They can be used in combinations too. In my opinion, the sound quality is excellent. Even connecting the headphone out into my main receiver, it sounds really nice. The only problem with using headphone out is that even when turning the player volume up to 95/120, I still have to turn up the amp on the receiver a lot. I wish the player had a line out jack for connecting to the stereo, or better yet, spdif digital output so it could act as a digital transport to the DAC built into the Denon receiver. Sounds so good that I've been replacing all my mp3s with flac--you can clearly hear the difference even compared to 320 kbps mp3s. This is the first player I've used that supports flac. I have put a 256 GB micro SD card in the player, and have no problems at all. The player will act as a USB input DAC which is quite nice for the computer. I use it when listening to music on the computer, but I don't use it when watching videos as there is a sound delay. Maybe this is a configuration problem on my end. I appreciate LDAC support for bluetooth. Too bad my integrated receiver only does SBC, so I can't use the player's LDAC, but it had no problems connecting and playing SBC, but SBC is too compressed. The player works seamlessly with the sony media center for pc. It doesn't seem to play well with windows media player since it isn't recognized as an audio device. The build quality is excellent. It feels solid and well built. The first day I had it, I accidentally dropped it 3-feet onto the tile with no problem. I then bought a silicone skin for it in case that happens again. The battery life is truly excellent, and the battery charger saver option provides the potential to maximize battery life over the long term by not allowing the battery to charge to over 90% capacity or something like that. I would definitely buy this player again, but wish it had a digital output option. The device packs a lot into a small form factor -- quite amazing actually. Size is just right--not too big or too small. Price is excellent for this high quality player.

I received the product within a week or so; that's fast! The product is in Japanese but it works. 2 issues though. 1st issue is that the Music Centre software is no longer available for download at its website so I can only drag & drop but I'm cool with that. However, I'm assuming, without the software, I can't seem to get the mp3 to read any new folder I created, so I have to lump all my music into the main folder & let the mp3 plays it at random. Due to that, it makes me feel like the mp3 is overpriced since I can't control & make my own playlist based on folders. 2nd issue is the volume; it is very soft even above 50. The volume 50 sounds like volume 10, seriously. Still, it's a good mp3; sturdy build with a premium finish. I like it. Have been looking all over for it since it's not android-based. Thank you, seller!

The Sony Walkman does not skimp on performance or sound. The interface is a bit cumbersome and it takes a while to boot up. It can accept MicroSD cards to increase capacity. The screen is too small for watching videos.

I love the product itself, and I’ve had an NW-A55 series MP3 player before and loved it! Thing is, I hadn’t realised it was in Japanese, haha! Lucky for me, I had one before so I know how to operate it, but I’m still a little lost. The product came in perfect, mint condition and I loved the color! The seller, Ichigo Japan, was very helpful when I had some issues with shipping and it was resolved quickly. Very proffesional and very speedy. I would recommend this product as it has excellent sound quality, amazing layout, and it is very comfortable to hold and take with you wherever you go. Again, the only issue I have with it, is the fact that it is in Japanese, although that was probably my fault for not checking throughly enough what language it would be in.
