Is this supposed to have a strong bitter taste? Mine does. I hope it's not rancid. I didn't use it for cooking; only used it on a salad.

It is stronger and more pungent than most olive oils and ever so slightly bitter, in a good way (it tastes very olivy). It should not be bitter to the point of tasting rancid. At first, I was inclined to think the only reason for the bad reviews were some people were accustomed to extremely bland food. But there are also some reviewers claiming they had it before and loved it, and the one from amazon was bad.

Is this in a glass or plastic container?

Im not sure but in the markets here in Baltimore Md they're are in glass containers so Im guessing glass.... Baltimore is where Pompeian is made as well :)

Can this be used for cooking?

The robusto version of this oil has a strong olive oil flavor while I use the smooth version for my day to day cooking. Robusto will give you strong olive oil taste while smooth will not.

is it IOOC certified?

Olive oil for reasonable price

I always use pompeian extra virgin oil and do not have any issue. It smell good and have good texture. It's cheap and is what I want.

Tastes great, good value.

I've been ordering this for years. The taste is great. You get that familiar burning at the back of your throat which lasts about 7 seconds. I use it on everything as my ONLY oil. It also is a great snack: pour a bit in a small bowl with salt and oregano. Dip your bread into it and enjoy. The price is very reasonable, at $22-23 currently. It had jumped to $33+ at one point and I just waited for a drop. When I first started using it, the price was around $18.
