Actually works to keep pigeons and birds from landing on my AZ backyard spa/pool deck.
I purchased two of them (one originally and then another a few weeks later since the first one worked so well). It has been approximately ~1.5 years since I've had them and they are still working fine. I used them on my attached spa to pool sitting travertine decks since this is where the birds/pigeons were landing/resting on (a lot of bird excrement). The two spinning bird deterrents has been keeping the birds off this backyard area. At least for my use, I was so happy they actually worked. The solar panels keep the spinners active from dawn to dusk (in sunny Arizona) when the birds are active. The only drawback is that two out of four original reflective strips/tapes at the ends of the spinners have deteriorated. I have a separate extra reflective strip roll on hand (remember I have a pigeon/bird problem) so it was not a big deal to replace the strips. In addition, I really think it would still work for me without the reflective strips because I believe the actual spinning telescoping arms are keeping the birds from landing. Overall happy with the product because it works for my application. I don't know how long they will last in the Arizona heat and dust year after year so I'm likely going to purchase more to replace the ones I have when they eventually don't work. Remember that these are mechanical systems with a motor that will eventually break down. The price is kind of expensive but I haven't found an alternative solution with this much success.

Poor quality and over priced for only running for 20 min in direct sunlight
Good idea, but poor quality. For 50 dollars expected a higher quality product. Don’t waste your money. Charged it for a day and a half in the Arizona sun. Turned it on and it wouldn’t work unless It was in the brightest direct sunlight and it required me to manually spin the blades to get it spinning. Then only ran for about 20 min and stopped. Solar cell doesn’t generate enough power to spin motor, plus rechargeable batteries seem to be bad.

The thing that works.
This thing is the ONLY deterrent that works to keep birds off my negative edge pool spillover, and I’ve tried everything. It runs all day and through the night, but it does get a lot of sun in Arizona. It seems to even deter the bees that would congregate on the edge, too. The negative reviews here are ridiculous. I don’t review much, it this one is 100% effective and worth the $$$.

Charge batteries & low wind
Even though I had it in direct sun for a day, it did not work all the way through the night. I removed the batteries and charged manually, but I also replaced with a higher MAH battery, that appears to have fixed the overnight issue.. The only other downfall is with fails to spin at Wind speeds above 5 miles an hour or more. Overall, it has deterred the geese from coming onto my platform. It would be nice if it would have a higher torque or spin motor for the wind speed issue UPDATE: now, after having it a little bit and even with the bigger storage batteries, it does not spin through the night. In the morning, it’s not spinning and has to charge up a little bit before it starts. Again with the wind speed of about 5 to 10 miles an hour, that also stops it from spinning continuously. Overall, the product seems to be working OK and so far have not had any geese on my dock.

Working great at detering birds from my dogs food / bowl
We have a guard dog at our work that stays outside, I couldn't understand how much I thought he was eating. I ended up getting him an automatic dog bowl / feeder as he eats the bowl continues to fill, every time I would come back from the weekend all the food would be gone, then I got him a bigger dog bowl that holds 10 pounds of food and still every time I would come back it would be all gone. I couldn't figure it out, I really thought he was eating that much since I don't know anything about dogs, never had one. Then I just started saying to myself that it can't be he's eating that much, he only eats twice a day when I'm there. I started noticing every time I pull in I see birds at his dog bowl and I see them eating his food. It sounds kind of crazy to me that these birds are eating 10 pounds of food every few days but, I figured it has to be the problem. I went online to find a bird repeller and at first I saw the ultrasonic ones thought that would work best but, they all have really poor reviews and so I was hesitant in purchasing that. Then I found this unit and thought I'd give it a try. It arrived the very next day after placing the order, first thing I did was when I was setting this up, I put in my own Energizer rechargeable AA which has more power than the rechargeables that it came with, I wasn't sure if there would be compatible issues or not but, I went ahead and did it. So I set this up on top of my dogs feeder / bowl, high enough to where he can easily go under there and eat without it bothering him or touching him. Since I have set this up 6 days ago, it has been running just fine and best of all it is working in detering birds. His dog bowl is still 3/4 full from 6 days ago, so it definately was the birds. The unit is still running just fine, I don't know if the solar is working or if it's the rechargeable battery but, I wouldn't mind just having to change the rechargeable battery now and then because this thing is working awesome, there aren't any more birds, when I pull in there aren't any birds. I remember the first day I set it up I saw birds were trying to come and eat something but they were staying away from the unit, I guess they weren't used to this thing and they wouldn't come near the food they were just sitting there in the parking lot but, now they are not coming at all. For my purpose this unit is definatley doing the job and repelling birds.

Great product would buy again
I don’t really do reviews but I am doing this one because if you are being drove as insane as I was by pigeons or any kind of bird using your pool or spa as a personal bird bath I want to tell you these work. I have seen some reviews saying they don’t work for whatever reason, but I can say I bought them last spring and they are still sitting around my pool and spa spinning like the first day I bought them. Now the downside of things are I live in the desert and the sun has turned them yellow and I do have to clean the dirt off frequently. Some of the antennas won’t push back in probably from dirt being lodged in the crevices. We get really bad sand storms here, dirt gets into everything. The sun is harsh here and destroys everything that stays outside after a while. The end of one antennas snapped off, but it still is long enough to swipe at birds, but if I can get another year out of them I will feel I got my money’s worth. I don’t have a huge pool, it’s a decent size but I have seen bigger, it’s about 12 foot long and kidney shaped. I spread 4 out around the pool and 1 around the spa and 2 on each side of the spill over, which is their favorite place to land.

GIVES OUT IN LESS THAN A YEAR
I’ve brought 3 of these, works great but both stoped working within a year, now the price has doubled and not worth $100 if it’s only going to work for less than a year

It works well enough to deter pigeons on my porch. Just should have bought new rather than used.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: The overall item is great however I purchased one that was “used” on Amazon where the description said that the item was very lightly used with slight damage to the original box. When it arrived, it was not in its original box, rather it was haphazardly thrown into a bag and then tossed into a generic Amazon box for shipping. Upon opening the box the unit I received had broken mounting tabs, the extendable antennas were badly rusted making it extremely hard to extend. Overall I was dissatisfied with purchasing a used item for 65 bucks when it was as badly damaged as mine. Should have bought new.

Impressive Results!
No birds or poop since I got this item. I only have smaller birds on my balcony and Ilike that it will not hurt them if they get hit by it (it stops really quick with a very low torque motor). I also bought higher capacity AA rechargeable batteries as the ones shipped are all but useless and won't last half a day in poor sunlight! The trick here for people that do not have much sun is to buy 2500mAh AA rechargeable batteries and a charger. Put recharged batteries in each day and your unit will run all day and night no problem! I added a few white ribbons on the end of the arms which I found scared the birds way even more. Very happy, bought another for my rear balcony. Great device!

Worked until it got wet and leaked into batter compartment
It would seem this device was designed for indoor use??? Worked perfectly until it got wet and leaked into batter compartment (despite my own weather proofing, because the device has NO inbuilt weatherproofing. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
