First though, they have to keep a promise to take a trip together, and like everything else they do, they're not doing it halfway. So it's time to hop on the bus - the double-decker bus that is - and go around the world as the band heads for the birthplace of the British Invasion: The United Kingdom! And on the way they're going to have to solve that one last big puzzle that's been vexing them: what to get for their underclassman rhythm guitarist Azusa, who will be taking over the club once they don their caps and gowns and leave Sakuragaoka for the last time. The Movie (2011) follows the second season of the popular shojo music series, bringing the tale of the Light Music Club to an apt finale. The school year is almost over, so outspoken Ritsu, shy Mio, adorable Mugi, and ditsy Yui are preparing to graduate. Soon, rehearsals, shopping sprees, and After School Tea Time will be memories. The girls decide to take a graduation trip to London, and insist that Azusa, the sanest member of the club, come with them, even though she's only a junior. Wherever Yui goes, confusion follows, and the challenge of a new language only adds to the problems. Fortunately, Azusa is there to sort things out. The quintet arrives at the wrong hotel, plays at an automated sushi bar in place of another band, and performs at an Anglo-Japanese festival in the park below the Millennium Wheel. Back in Japan, the four seniors express their affection and gratitude to Azusa in a special song. Sweet, but never saccharine, K-On! The Movie brings the adventures of Yui, Ritsu, Mio, Mugi, and Azusa to a nostalgic but upbeat conclusion that will please the adolescent girls who made the series an international hit.
