**Q: How do I let the clock know that it's night time?, because it keeps chiming at night but not at day...**
A: It sounds like sleep mode is reversed. (Maybe pm and am reversed?) I don’t have the instructions with me, since this was purchased for my parents. When we set it up, we followed the instructions and it works fine for them. Sorry that I cannot be of help.

Exactly what I wanted, real wood. The size is perfect and the look is just what I was looking for. The directions are easy to follow and in clear, readable English. The only drawback is what others have mentioned. The chime is rather quiet even on the loudest setting. The packaging for shipping is very good.
