Construction seems sound and it makes outstanding Espresso shots . . . once you get it to work. It would not function at all when using the double shot basket. Customer service responded immediately and they sent me an new basket. It has worked flawlessly ever since. I will admit my old Ninja made better regular coffee, but the Espressione is ok for regular coffee. My previous Ninja brand did not make espresso shots and the Ninja died after only 2 years use (my son had same failure experience with the Ninja). Espresso side works but coffee won’t brew? Help me please!!!** A: I had this problem as well. The instructions were wrong. The instructions tell you to move the bottom button (the espresso button) to the right, then the move the top button to the right. But the coffee side will not brew if the very bottom button is not to the left (i. e. off). I hope this is making sense. Once I had the buttons correct, the coffee side brewed fine. The instructions need to be corrected. **Q: Is this the old krups model? i've had my krups for about 8 years snd it is finally giving out. this looks just like it.** A: It is a different brand but it does look like it a little **Q: If they want you to pay this much wojld you buy it with a one year warranty? This brews a mellow, robust pot of coffee. The espresso side also functions as expected with the ability to program the size of the shot being produced, say if you want a triple or larger, and it remembers it! The steam frother can do steam or hot water for tea or oatmeal. My son personally likes to have his morning strawberry Quik frothed to make it warm and creamy! He calls it his fancy milk! Cleaning is easy, only takes a few seconds to rinse everything as it's all stainless. And has dual water reservoirs. The only thing with a learning curve is the controls. You can only use one side at a time, so if you turn on the drip and walk away without switching it over from the espresso side, you'll kick yourself when you come back to an empty carafe. But once you make that mistake a couple times you remember! Even when half asleep. Some remark that the espresso/frother is noisy, but if you have ever had an espresso maker, you will find the noise level on par with other models. Those complaining about it in reviews have obviously never had an espresso maker before!
