We designed On Mute with the adapter in mind. You will need to use a pair of 3.5mm headphones however. **Q: Need special headphones for this device? Works in computers?** A: Any standard headset with a microphone works. For example, the headset that comes with your iPhone or Android phone. It works with computers as well (and GoTo Meeting, Skype etc...) For best performance it's recommended to plug the headphones into the adapter, make sure the adapter is not muted, and then plug the adapter into the computer. Note that this version does not work with headphones designed to be sold in China (OMTP headphones). It works with CTIA/AHJ which is standard on all Apple and Android phones sold in the US and Europe. **Q: I hv splitter a y-a2 jack adapter connected to laptop.can i mute my mic with this one and the other mic i dont want to mute.is it possible?** A: Do you have the model of the splitter? I can give better advice then. Many 3.5mm splitters route the microphone to one connector and the headphones to the other. If two microphones lines are connected together it may end up muting both. **Q: Will this work with a single 3.5mm cable gaming headset and the 3.5mm jack on the lastest Xbox controller?** A: I have the old Xbox controller (without the audio jack) so I can't try it but I'm 99% sure it will work. So far I've used it with my phone and laptop in combination with different headphones. I figure it should work with what you describe too! --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.no/products/65174189-on-mute-headset-microphone-muting-adapter-mic-mute-switch-any](https://www.desertcart.no/products/65174189-on-mute-headset-microphone-muting-adapter-mic-mute-switch-any) --- *Product available on Desertcart Norway* *Store origin: NO* *Last updated: 2026-10-13*
