It is simply dried and then crushed. Full flavor of the pepper is retained this way. **Q: Why is this not very hot?** A: It's hot enough to get the job done. I love the smokey flavor of the Carolina Reaper. It beats the other hot peppers hands down. I mix crushed hot Thai red pepper to Reaper powder 10:1 and keep a spice chili shaker bottle in my car and on the kitchen table. The mix is great on anything that needs a little more heat.
