Alcoholics Anonymous (also known as the Big Book in recovery circles) sets forth cornerstone concepts of recovery from alcoholism and tells the stories of men and women who have overcome the disease. The fourth edition includes twenty-four new stories that provide contemporary sharing for newcomers seeking recovery from alcoholism in A.A. during the early years of the 21st century. Sixteen stories are retained from the third edition, including the "Pioneers of A.A." section, which helps the reader remain linked to A.A.'s historic roots, and shows how early members applied this simple but profound program that helps alcoholics get sober today. Approximately 21 million copies of the first three editions of "Alcoholics Anonymous" have been distributed. It is expected that the new fourth edition will play its part in passing on A.A.'s basic message of recovery. This fourth edition has been approved by the General Service Conference of Alcoholics Anonymous, in the hope that many more may be led toward recovery by reading its explanation of the A.A. program and its varied examples of personal experiences which demonstrate that the A.A. program works. Review: No more wasting money on alcohol - AA delivered in your face - no diplomacy, no nonsense. If you're looking for a way out of alcohol, this book will make sure you don't relapse. I highly recommend this book and it did work for me. I'm in recovery, surprising the hell out of my friends. There are so many advantages to living alcohol free - saving money, gaining respect, better focus, easier workout and best of all - healthy organs. This body and mind is a gift - make the best out of life by staying away from booze. If I can do it, anyone can! Regarding the book, these are classic stories. Something like an interesting share in an AA session, if you've ever been in one. I got the Kindle version so that I can look up word meanings instantly. Your vocabulary is sure to improve multifold. In simple words, AA stories are non-goofy illustrations of the horrors of numbing the mind. It could be that one last thing to save you from asking for that one-last-drink. These days, I do give company to my friends in the bar but I'm not worried about temptations. I'm happy to say that I would never again have an alcoholic drink in my life. I strongly recommend this book to anyone with an alcohol problem. If you know an alcoholic, gift this book to him/her so that you can save one more life (and probably their family as well). Enough fun - time to get that healthy sleep that we deserve. Review: The benefit that I got from the book and fellowship ... - The benefit that I got from the book and fellowship is way more than the stars I can give as a review. It changed me and my life.

No more wasting money on alcohol

Written by God
It is difficult to believe that a bunch of alchoholics wrote this book. A book which has stood the test of time, did not require any change/modification in it's years of existence except for the substitution of the word alchohol with any other addiction. No, this book is'nt human. It was written by the hand of god.

Page no not matched
The book is good but the pages don’t match the paperback. Big book is not big book if you mess with pages 1-164. The publisher should know that better that till now no changes have been made to the content of 164 pages barring some grammatical correction and substitution of some words. So when I went to pg 58 I found a whole different chapter than “ Chapter 5 How it works” that was disappointing. I had to return the book. It would be good if the kindle version is a print replica and we can enjoy reading our beloved book as though it was a hardcover one 🙏🙏

Saved my life at start, then TOO MUCH GOD, so moved on
I have to give it five stars for its role in the beginning of my recovery. It was a lifesaver. But then atheists and agnostics have to question the 12 steps because six are about god. The fact that this questioning process is resisted by today's AA organisation, even though the original author expected wordings to change as time progressed, gives rise to criticism as a cult. As the alcoholic's sobriety develops, the big book turns from lifesaver to lifespoiler. It would be more healthy for members to reinterpret and rewrite their own twelve steps as their lives blossom. Thankfully there are books that reflect this healthy approach like An Atheists Unofficial Guide to AA - for Newcomers: 2 by Vince Hawkins. Also, for programs other than alcoholism there is An Atheists Twelve Steps to Self-improvement - To accompany any Program

Great book if you want to stop drinking alcohol.
This book is a spiritual transmission that came through Bill Wilson, one of the co-founders of AA in the 1930s. Amazing pure program of healing and recovery. Can be applied to any problem whatsoever. A work of genius.
