Fast reliable backup media
Review for SABRENT Rocket XTRM Plus 4TB Thunderbolt 3 Portable SSD The external hard drive works well with my MacBook Pro. I haven't measured its transfer speed, but it seems fast enough. I use it for Time Machine backups of my Mac.

Grat product fast at last
At last i can get a good speed from an external SSD. Thanks GROK for expaining why various fast SSD were slow plugged into my Mac Studio and recommending this excellent product. Thank you apple for misleading us and not warning that the USB/Thunderbolt ports are slow and SSD vendors for now qualifying compatible with but slow!

I never realized how slow my external SSD was until I got this
On a Mac Book Pro with thunderbolt 3/4 this drive is similar in speed of the internal Mac drive. This is great for editing in Davinci Resolve, On1, Luminar Neo, etc. The external SSD I had been using on my PC is connects usb-c but must be an older USB protocol which is super slow when compared to 40MBS thunderbolt drive. Comes with Thunderbolt cables not all USB-C cables will work correctly. When using the wrong cable drive may connect as 5mbs device rather than 40mbs. I'm happy with it, since you can't upgrade a MAC's internal HD, one or two of these is likely a requirement. Best thing by far is it's speed.

Solid Performer
Fast on Mac via Thunderbolt - roughly 2500/2700 (W/R). Built like a tank, so I don’t feel the need to carry it around in a special protective case. Generally runs cool, only slightly above ambient; which means good power efficiency and minor battery draw. Downside - the cable port fitment and retention is “loose;” which is kinda worrisome moving this drive around with a laptop. Compared to Sandisk Pro G40 - the Sandisk eeks out a slight performance edge at 2700 MB/s symmetrically, is broader yet slimmer in profile, and has VERY tight connector retention. Really it comes down to pricing.

Plug n Play .
Totally Dope!!! Lightning fast...Working on a musical production. 1gb of tracks ( 50 so far) it saved to the Rocket XTRM Plus in 10 seconds!

Much nicer package than my 1 TB Thunderbolt Rocket Drive!
I recently bought a Mac mini M4 in the minimal configuration. Nice deal for $550. Apple wants another $200 to go from a 256 GB SSD to a 512 GB SSD. Ridiculous compared to external Thunderbolt 3 hardrives. I learned the true meaning of "Fantom" Drive. Amazon didn't have any and the wait kept getting longer and longer. Finally I cancelled the sale and looked elsewhere. Amazon had this beauty on sale for $220. The case is twice the size of my 1TB Rocket drive and runs cool as the proverbial cucumber. The TB3 cable was 3 times as long as supplied with the 1 TB Rocket, about 18". If I could talk to me maybe 5 years hence, I could tell you how this drive held up. I suspect it should do well. As far as I can tell, this 2 TB Thunderbolt 3 version is a great buy, and worth the upgrade over the 1 TB version, just for heat dissipation alone. One small complaint about Rocket. They come formatted FAT. I'll bet 80% or more of these are being sold to Mac users and should be formatted for Mac (journaled). Not many Windows users use Thunderbolt hardrives.

Redoutable de rapidité
Le packaging est soigné. Le disque ne déçoit pas. Je fais mes sauvegardes time Machine de mon Mac Book M4 Pro sur ce support et la rapidité est bluffante. Les câbles fournis sont de qualité.

Fast disk for Mac on thunderbolt port
Ottimo SSD, veloce ed affidabile. Attenzione, per avere la velocità thunderbolt su macbook pro you need to connect the disk directly to one of the thunderbolt ports. If you connect to a port of a usb-c hub, such as on the back of the studio display, you just obtain usb-c speed.

It's Not Cheap But Still A Superlative External SSD!
Although I haven't had extensive experience with the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM PLUS 2TB external SSD yet I have found it to be a reliable, extremely well built and super fast solid state drive, (via Thunderbolt 3). As I understand it it will also support the newer fast transfer protocol via a USB-C port although I can't recall the name. I've had no problems moving files of all sizes and types to the Sabrent drive, but my main use will be for storing file backups and system images although I know I'd still have considerable room on the SSD for keeping non-related data. As the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM PLUS 2TB external SSD supports two fast data transfer systems, (including the default mode should you not have a PC supporting fast data transfer), it is a very versatile SSD and certainly gets the job done. I have found that I can transfer data and read it back at speeds well exceeding 25Gb/s and so read and write times, especially with large files, are noticeably quicker. The construction of the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM PLUS SSD is top notch and the electronic are housed in a solid aluminium body within a rubber jacket with a reassuring 'weight' to it. From what I've discovered so far the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM PLUS is likely to go the distance and the speed advantages are great. Yes it is costly but I feel I made a worthwhile purchase here and hope to enjoy years of use from the Sabrent ROCKET XTRM PLUS external SSD.

Very fast drive
Expensive but well worth it. I use these drives for editing UHD video and with the supplied cable the drives are fast enough to read the content as if on the laptop. I have many of these drives.
