## Description

Product Description Master Lock 2300D pen oiler lock lubricant with PTFE. Over time, airborne dust, dirt, and chemicals can settle on and in locks and create friction inside the precision locking and keying components, thus interfering with the function. Locks must be maintained to keep them functioning properly and lengthen the product life. This is the ideal lubricant formulated specifically for locks. What is PTFE? PTFE is the acronym for Polytetrafluoroethylene, which is the most slippery material known to science today. All surfaces have microscopic irregularities, which create friction when rubbed against each other. The introduction of PTFE into these irregularities smoothes out the surfaces, reducing the wear and sticking that friction causes. The most familiar name of PTFE is Teflon, which is the registered trademark for DuPont’s non-stick cookware. Where can the new lock lubricant be used? Everywhere. This formulation is ideal for padlocks, door locks, automotive, marine, and multipurpose applications. The 2300D pen oiler is convenient for consumers and can easily be applied to keyways or shackle holes. From the Manufacturer Master Lock 2300D pen oiler lock lubricant with PTFE. Review: Worked very well - Never bought this type of thing before used it on one of the padlocks at work and it worked excellent
Review: the lock worked like it was brand new - I had bought this lock oil for a bike carrier lock at the recommendation of many users on desertcart. A couple of weeks later after being hit with storm after storm, I went to open my shed and I couldn't even get the key to go in the lock - no exaggeration. The last storm had such high winds we must have gotten an excessive amount of rain in the lock. After a couple of minutes of trying to get that key in, I remembered I had just purchased this oil. Luckily since I had just purchased it I knew exactly where it was (you all know what I mean by that). I injected a little bit into the lock and worked it in with the key. Within 15 seconds, not only was the key going in smoother than ever before, the lock worked like it was brand new. I didn't buy the product for this purpose, but it definitely fit the task - now I just have to remember to do that once a year. Very good product - was glad I had it on hand.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: If using this for a car key to get the ignition to work better without sticking; should you apply this directly on the car key or inside the ignition?**
A: The formula within this lubricant was designed to be best used with padlocks, cylinders and mechanisms within the lock.

**Q: Is this product good for use with a combination padlock (lock without a key.)**
A: Pamela I don't really know. I've only used it on my key locks and works fine with them. If you put a few drops in the shackle opening it should work ok.

**Q: Would this be suitable for micrometers and other delicate measuring instruments?**
A: Yes it should work fine on your micrometers and calipers, especially if they are kept climate controlled.

**Q: Silicone based? I didn’t see where it says, only biodegradable?**
A: PTFE formula, whatever that translates to. Good stuff.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not super convenient, but it works!
*by A***S on May 22, 2022*

We came home one day and could not get our front door unlocked. Neither of our two keys could get the lock to turn enough to unlatch. We panicked, because we did not have a plan B get into the house. We finally got it open, but feared ever going out again! At first we feared that the lock had simply worn out, and we began shopping for a replacement. But some sources suggested it might just need lubrication. Hmm, what kind? It’s a royal pain shopping for lock lubricants. Years ago I used WD-40 on some padlocks outdoors, and it needed to be reapplied often because the locks would rust up again. And I would not use WD-40 in the living space, anyway. Instead it came down to PTFE (Teflon), silicon or graphite. I’d used graphite before on entry locks, and I found it to be messy while not really helping enough. I’d also used silicon on other things in the past, and ruled that out. After settling on PTFE, I decided against an aerosol because I wanted to avoid issues with overspray, etc. Well, you can only apply this as droplets, and for a front door, you do not have the help of gravity. So you need to apply some to the keyhole, and shove that in with the key; and/or put some on the key itself. Either way, you need the key to spread it around to the mechanism inside. I did this repeatedly, with lots of fluid, because it seems so inefficient. It’s tricky to do, and at first I regretted choosing this over a spray. But the lock did loosen up, and although the key was a covered with fluid at first, the lock has not given us problems since then. Not sure I’d choose this form again, over a spray. But it worked, and it is easier to store than a spray can (and no worry about propellants, etc.) So I am satisfied and would recommend it to others who have similar needs.
