Manhattan SX Freesat HD Box

Our old box packed up so I was looking around for a replacement and chose this after reading some reviews on it.Quick to install, and simple guide on-screen to set up. You input your postcode and it sets your region etc for where you are. Easy.I find it great to have a dedicated button for subtitles and more importantly audio descriptions at the touch of a button when they are being broadcast for that particular programme.It is very simple to add extra channels (once you know how to, probably not for the faint-hearted or average user though because you need to know the technical aspects for each so unless you know what I am on about don't try or you can mess it up!)All-in-all, it is a small box with big features for it's size. Great picture, all 13 HD channels straight out of the box on Freesat using our old SKY dish pointing at Astra at 28.2 degrees so it should work for anyone in a similar situation.EPG is great, 7 days EPG, quick menu for now and next and simple to add reminders whereby the box changes the channel for you with a pop-up that it is going to change to your reminder in 59 secs if you do nothing or you can just select 'OK' to change it immediately.I am really pleased with this and would certainly buy another if I had to.2 year warranty when you register it online (you have to upload proof of purchase as a PDF / scan / image etc).Please note this box does not record but Manhattan make other boxes that do, we did not need that so I did not bother as this suits us fine for our needs.Highly recommended!

Arrived so quickly I was impressed at the speed. It was well packaged, small and compact, easy to use and connect to my tv and the satellite dish. Happy with this purchase and recommend it.

Had one of these running for four years now. That, in itself, is good - my unit has been reliable.Positives are that the EPG is nice and responsive, it's correctly outputting 5.1 + HD via HDMI when broadcasters make it available.Negatives are that the unit runs very hot and boot up time is very slow.It's a good, clean, fuss-free Freesat solution that liberates you from an internet connection and works reliably.

So easy to install, set up was fast , small, lightweight and fast response. Remote control come with batteries supplied, stable, solid made just excellent quality.

I had on old Goodmans freesat that had been working for about 20 years , but started to not show me many channels , only the main ones , so i bought a new cheap one for now , and this little device is lovely , Had a bit of a problem connecting it to wi-fi , but got there after 3 goes . So easy to set up , took me half an hour from start to finish , but most of that time was trying to get behind a very large tv unit and taking the old one out , then i plugged all this in and set it up in a few minutes , so easy to do , I then checked all the channels one by one to see if they work and bingo , i got all them all . I normally get my daughter to help me with anything technical as i am old and can't get most of it , but i did it on my own , she'll be so proud . Now i got a lot more channels to watch , so will be goodEDITED REVIEW , not sure what is going on but it seems to only be on for a few hours then gets no signal , always seems to appear to be about 3pm 3.30pm right in the middle of one of the series i watch , so is very annoying as my freeview is total rubbish and i can't watch that programme on freeview as i only have the main 4 channels , have now sent it back and will wait for a refund then try another box , as my neighbour has one of these and his works fine so i may have just had a faulty box .

Worked straight out of the box. You get everything you need to connect it to your TV.You get the Manhattan Freesat box. Power cable. HDMI cable also you get a scart connection for older tv's also you can use RGB leads that plug straight into your TV. These also plug into the scart adapter if you don't have RGB. But all modern tvs use hdmi.The picture quality is very good to say it's 1080HD.To set the box up you just enter your postcode. And follow the on screen instructions very easy to setup.If you turn the box off using the remote you will see the Manhattan logo. Then you will see please wait this is only because it's downloading the TV guide.You get a TV guide but what I like most about it is if your watching a TV channel but the same channel is available in HD then it asks you would you like to watch it in HD press OK button and it will turn over the channel to HD.Loads of channels to choose from. If you prefer to watch all the channels that are available in HD they are in the higher numbers like BBC HD etc etc. Lots of Christmas movies channels on at the moment it's November 2022.The remote is very easy to use. You get a volume button but that only highers the volume on the box. After that you will need your TV remote to turn the volume up higher.Channel button up and down. TV guide button. And you can enter the TV channel you want to watch by using the TV guide or just the numbers on the remote.

As a Freesat box I found this to be good value, easy to install and worked well.However, I soon realised that it does not have one of the facilities I was looking for. It does not have HDMI-CEC built in.This means that you cannot pass control of the box to the remote control unit of the television set to which it is connected. This was an important omission in my view as I find it really annoying having the confusion of two remote units at hand in order to have complete control of what I am watching.

Excellent device which has greatly improved access to UK TV to our Philips kitchen set in France. Even the sound has improved. It was delivered very promptly.

Plugin and follow the instructions - everything is up and running within 10 minutes. Small, compact and good. Highly recommended to watch UK TV in Europe.
