Zenbook DUO

I had seriously considered the Lenovo Yoga Book 9i last year as I've long wanted a dual monitor laptop. However, I could never pull the trigger, partially due to the cost, but mainly because the "stand" and keyboard solution Lenovo came up with seemed to be just as cumbersome to travel with as a second monitor would be. What I had really wanted was a dual monitor laptop with the keyboard stowed in-between the screen like Lenovo did with their X1 foldable, and with a built-in kickstand. Just waiting one more year after the Yoga Book 9i came out allowed me to purchase this ASUS Zenbook Duo 2024.My model is the "lower" end Core i7 with 16GB RAM and 1080p monitors. For my purposes, the i7 and 16GB RAM are plenty, as is the 1080p resolution. I'm not even sure why the higher end model has such high resolution displays, as the screens are only 14" so 1080p is plenty for me, while 3K displays on such a small footprint means more battery drain pushing all those additional pixels. The additional cost is worth it if you need the RAM and higher speed processor, though I'd still lower the resolution to 1080p had I purchased that model.Regarding build quality, I did not buy in the first production run, (which didn't even include this model as far as I can tell) and I have zero complaints. No creaking, ill-fitting, or unproperly spaced components. It feels extremely solid and well made. If there were early production-run QA issues it seems that they've been addressed by ASUS at this point. The laptop is on the heavier side, but for what it includes it is well worth it, and still significantly lighter than carrying a laptop along with a second monitor.Upon receiving and booting up the laptop there were definitely some software quirks related to the displays, (they wouldn't properly rotate when the physical orientation changed). However, I went in to Windows Update and had it download all new updates, which also came with new ASUS drivers and that fixed the rotation related issues I was having while also making the system run much more smoothly. Obviously the system was manufactured some time ago while software development has continued, (and still continues). I had expected some Windows-related issues as this is a new form factor, but other than the first rotation bug, it's been pretty seamless and you can just use the second display exactly like you would any other second display - it is just built in!The keyboard solution is great, as is the keyboard itself. No compromises here and all keys register quickly and easily, whether docked or on Bluetooth. I'm quite happy with the keyboard and trackpad, and when using it in regular laptop mode, (with just the top display) you'll easily forget that there's a second display underneath.Opening up the laptop and propping it up with the built-in kickstand is a game changer. Everything you need, (with the exception of an external mouse) is built right into the machine. You can carry it all with you in a compact and relatively lightweight package. If you are the kind of person whose work benefits significantly by having a second display, this is a form factor you should highly consider.I am also quite pleased with the quality of the displays themselves. They get plenty bright for outdoor use, (I used them outside for a week on a recent trip to Grenada) and "pop" with bright colors while being easy to read in just about any environment. These seem to be quite high quality panels, which I would expect given the price, but you never know.I can't really comment much on system performance as all of my work is browser based, but I can say that it is extremely snappy with dozens of open tabs and at least four applications running side by side across the two open displays. If you're running Photoshop, editing CAD drawings, or other CPU/RAM intensive programs I'd probably just opt for the higher-end model as it is only a few hundred dollars more. Still, for my use, this model has been fantastic and a significant performance upgrade over my previous 2021 laptop.Overall I am extremely happy with this purchase. The ability to have a second display is crucial for my business, and working without one adds a significant amount of time to any task I need to complete. In many cases my work is very time sensitive, and I value my time highly, so this is the perfect solution. I am excited to see how ASUS continues to innovate on this idea.

I'm using it to show my various projects in the virtual world of Open Sim. Most of these projects involve virtual worlds that are very graphic intensive which this machine seems to handle very well. I probably have spent only a couple hours with it and have much to learn. The only problem so far which could very well be my fault and not that of the computer is that when I fold the monitors out flat in sharing mode, the outside monitor does not flip it's content so the person I am trying to share with cannot see it right side up. I have messed with the orientation/display options, which may be the cause of my problem, but when I use the mode where you can flip it on is side then the monitor content is right side up as designed. They say Americans don't like to read instructions and the Japanese memorize them.I agree with other reviewers that this laptop or whatever you want to call it, is way ahead of it's time. I really am glad I bought it. I'll figure out that display issue.I gave battery life 5 stars, but really haven't tested that.

Frustrated ( look videos and picture ), a $1270 laptopI spent almost two months watching videos and reading reviews before deciding to buy this computer. The first time I ordered it, I never received it. After 10 days, Amazon refunded my money without any explanation. I contacted the vendor but never received any response.I decided to give it another chance during Black Friday and ordered it again. This time, I received a new Asus Zenbook Duo, but when I tried to set it up, it didn’t even turn on. After charging it for six hours, it powered on, but only one screen was functional. I spent hours with Amazon customer service trying to resolve the issue, but they couldn’t help me. Their only solution was to return the laptop and wait five days for a refund—which means I’ll miss the Black Friday deal.Extremely disappointed with both the product and the lack of support. I hope Asus customer service provides better answers this time.

I am absolutely loving this . I love technology and trying new laptops out. This one tops all of them. I can watch a movie or video on one and browse the internet on the other while sitting on the couch. Also the price…. Most of these dual monitor laptops out now are 2-4k easily and they don’t look as clean as this!

The screen is very nice, build quality is great, feels like a premium device. My biggest problems is the detaching keyboard process isnt very seemless, I felt like there was more they could have done with the software to make it smoother, I had to go into advanced windows settings and remove the windows usb connect sound as it was so irritating while taking off the keyboard. Another huge problem is heat and battery life, with basic web browsing it gets insanely hot and the battery drains very quickly!!! Asus advertised 10 hours on one screen which is entirely unrealistic. The performance is worse than I expected for a new gen intel cpu, I dont think they've gotten better. Some smaller issues is the trackpad is very grippy, I'm not an artist but the included pen seems terrible, each time i slighly touch the palm of my hand to the screen while using, it completely messes up. IMO they should have lowered the price to 999 and not included the pen and bag!!

Nice for going out and using. Excellent feel and appearance

The very best two screen laptop on the market. I just set this up today and it’s amazing for using multiplescreens when you need them. I am in real estate and it really helps opening up documents on multiple screens to look at and make edits. Comes really handy when travelling. Crisp screen images, very sharp and super fast. Also included a backpack style case for this laptop which I was not expecting. 1/2 price of another name branded computer with twice the value. Well done ASUS. I recommend getting an extended warranty also with it. Good luck..

For the first 3 months was an amazing, beautiful, versital computer. The dual screens are crystal clear. It fit my vision of full portable work station. At the end of the 3rd month went to power it up and it was totally dead. Tried to charge it up, left it over night and never got any indication of any life. Worked with their support for over 2 hours nothing. Stay away from this machine, the concept is fantastic, design and build appear great on the out surface but it doesn't hold up. Also tried to register the machine but they web site kept telling me the serial number was invalid. Since they wouldn't honor the warranty, decided to try replace the battery and charger to no availe. The idea is great but they design implementation is weak. This is the first time that ASUS has disappointed me on over 42 years in the industry as an electronic / computer engineer.
