### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ In New Packaging
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 8 January 2012*

I have been the biggest Buffy fan since the show first appeared on BBC 2. Not having sky I wasa little behind and when BBC eventually stopped showing it I had to wait for the original VHSboxsets to be released to watch them all. I had gradually started buying the DVD versions but hadalways wanted a complete collection with 1-7 but they were always so damn expensive! Then I saw thisone for just £50 so I sold the few seasons I had and invested in this because it is very good value formoney. The show is awesome, if you disagree, then why are you reading these reviews. I'm not going togo into lots of details about the show, everybody else has. I am going to talk specifically about this editionof the Buffy boxset season 1-7 in NEW PACKAGING released in Oct 2011.1. Great value for money. Even if I hadn't sold the seasons I had for £15 it still would've been a steal. To get all 7 seasons with bonus features in a neat little package for £50, bargain :)2. I haven't played all the discs yet but I randomly selected 2 discs from each season to test them. They playjust fine. Picture quality is very good as is sound. I wanted to see if there were any problems as it will take mewhile to watch them all. I had no problems and am assuming all the discs are ok.3. This boxset is nice and compact. Previous ones have been un-necessarily large and I wanted something thatwouldn't take up too much space. This takes up no more room on a shelf than 7 regular dvds.I have given this 5* but there is a couple of things to mention that some people may not like but I didn't feelthey were worth deducting a star in the review.1. The 7 seasons are each in a normal sized dvd case which are absolutely fine, there are only pictures of Buffyon them and not of other cast members like on other versions of the boxsets, this doesn't bother me as I boughtit to watch the dvds, not look at the pictures on the cases. I like the new designs and each image on the frontof each season will have meaning to avid Buffy fans! But some people may prefer other versions and the pictureAmazon has put up doesn't necessarily show this.2. The outer box that the 7 seasons are kept in is incredibly flimsy. The cardboard used is really just very thickpaper and mine had a little bit of damage when it was delivered. Which probably happened during transit. The cornersalready look a little scruffy and I've barely touched it. I can't imagine as it is the box will last very long andit's nice to have the whole 7 seasons in one box. I have taken to the inside of the box with selotape to reinforce itsomewhat and will be asking for help reinforcing it some more from my sister, who is very good at things like that, whenshe visits. Until then I am treating it with kid gloves. This did bother me a little. I recently bought Supernaturalseason 1-5 and it was cheaper and the box it came in was much stronger and better made and will last a lot longer.I think the new packaging could have come in a stronger box without it increasing the manufacturing costs very muchat all. And as the retail price is low, most people would've probably happily paid a small amount more to get somethingof slightly better quality. Howver this does not effect the discs which are obviously the most important part.If the box ends up knackered, it isn't the end of the world.3. There are no episode guides or lists of the episodes in any of the seasons. When you play a disc you can see whichepisodes are on it but there is not a list on the case that says which episodes are on which disc and unless you have theepisode names and numbers memorised if you wanted to play a specific episode and wern't sure where abouts in the seasonit was it may take a couple of tries to put the correct disc in! Now I get that they didn't include episode guidebooklets to probably keep the cost down? But again, it wouldn't have been difficult to have a list on the insidecover that said Disc 1 and then a list of the episodes, disc 2 ect. As I watch the sets I plan to make a little listfor each season and put it in the case myself so in future if I just want to watch one episode it will be easier tofind. This again is not a big issue to me, but it's pretty standard to have a list like that!4. Back to episode guides. I have watched Buffy so many times that I know what the episode is just by the name and don't need a description. Also I have the 3 Buffy official season guide books that have detailed descriptions of all theepisodes if I need them any way so I do not mind one bit not having them in the boxset. If you are less familiar and are looking for an episode but can't remember the name of it then an episode guide would be useful and the lack of one may be more of a problem. So yes there are a few little issues with the design. Probably the worst one to me is the box, it's a bit pathetic really!!But not why I bought the set so I'm letting it go, and enjoying the episodes for their amazingness. I couldn't justify deducting a star for my nit picking but others may find these flaws more of an issue and the description on line doesn't mention any of these things. For what I paid this was excellent value, I finally have all 7 seasons to watch and re-watch to my hearts content. If you are really interested in owning Buffy then this is exactly what you are looking for, but the box may not make it passed its 1st birthday!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ BY FAR THE BEST TV SHOW OF ALL TIME!
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 28 April 2012*

BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is by far the best TV program I have ever seen. Even better than FRIENDS, which is also amazing. It has everything! There a tons and tons of hilarious jokes in every single episode, but there are also loads of exciting fight scenes and for 1997-2003, the special effects were awesome. There wasn't any episodes that I didn't love! Each series was funny, scary, exciting and very, very fun, but there were also some really sad episodes that'll make you cry.SERIES ONE- Best episodes: WELCOME TO HELLMOUTH, WITCH, THE PACK, ANGEL, PROPHECY GIRL Worst episode: I, ROBOT...YOU JANEEven the worst episode was brilliant. Lots of people think that this is the worst series but I think it was one of the better ones. One of my favourite episode of the entire program is WITCH which had a brilliant ending. Every sngle episode was a classic and some of the best television I've seen.SERIES TWO- Best episodes: SURPRISE, INNOCENCE, TED, KILLED BY DEATH, BECOMING PART 1 & 2 Worst episode: REPTILE BOYEven better than the first series, series two is just as funny, exciting and sad as before. The special effects were, for 1998, epic. The action scenes were better made as well. One of the best series of program.SERIES THREE- Best episodes: ANNE, DEAD MAN'S PARTY, FAITH HOPE AND TRICK, THE WISH, BAD GIRLS, EAR SHOT, GRADUATION DAY PART 1& 2 Worst Episode: THE ZEPPOEven though the last episode's special effects could have been slightly better, this is still an amazing series. Not quite as good as series 1 or 2, but Faith comes into the show so that was a huge bonus. I loved it!SERIES FOUR- Best episodes: LIVING CONDITIONS, HUSH, WHO ARE YOU Worst episode: WHERE THE WILD THINGS AREThe worst series overall, but still amazing with possibly the best episode of the entire program (HUSH). The main problem with the series was the villain. Adam was pretty cool but he wasn't that original. He reminded a lot of Frankenstein's monster. The last episode was great but it was also very, very confusing and I found it hard to understand. Quite a lot of fans think of one episode, BEER BAD, as the worst but I thought it was pretty funny. Overall I still really liked this series.SERIES FIVE- Best episodes: INTO THE WOODS, I WAS MADE TO LOVE YOU, THE BODY, FOREVER, THE GIFT Worst episode: TRIANGLEA lot better than the fourth series and maybe the third best series on the show. The acting was fantastic and the storylines were even more emotional, clever and exciting. They were also hilarious too. The villain was a lot better than Adam and the introduction of DAWN was one of the best things about the show. AWESOME!SERIES SIX- Best episodes: BARGAINING PART 1, ONCE MORE WITH FEELING, TABULA RASA, DEAD THINGS, HELL'S BELLS, NORMAL AGAIN, SEEING RED, VILLAINS, TWO TO GO, GRAVE Worst episode: DOUBLEMEAT PALACEDefinately my favourite BUFFY series, series 6 might start off with some OK-ish villains, it ends with one of the most shocking and awesome villains of the BUFFY VERSE. I won't spoil though. Some episodes are hilarious (GONE), action-packed (TWO TO GO), scary (NORMAL AGAIN) or sad (SEEING RED). Overall this series was just fantastic!SERIES SEVEN- Best episodes: SAME TIME SAME PLACE, CONVERSATIONS WITH DEAD PEOPLE, STORYTELLER, LIES MY PARENTS TOLD ME, DIRTY GIRLS, EMPTY PLACES, CHOSEN Worst episode: BENEATH YOUMy second favourite BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER series for sure! The last episode, CHOSEN, was the perfect ending as it was sad, funny, action-packed (with a very film-like battle) and extremely well-written and well-acted. 5 stars!I'm very sad that I've finished it but I'm about to start watching them all over again which will be fun! Buffy, Xander, Willow, Dawn, Giles, Anya, Cordelia, Faith and Joyce are the most original and brilliant characters I've seen on TV and I can't wait to watch them all again. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER is just a classic show that you need to watch! EPIC, AWESOME AND FUN!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional series, with extraordinarly talented writer/director Joss Whedon
*by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 24 September 2007*

Where shall I start... The first time I saw Buffy was by chance really. I was playing with the remote control, not knowing what to watch, when I stopped and saw a random episode from season 2 with Buffy and Angel. The episode was called : "Halloween". From then, I started to watch it everyweek as it was so gripping. Buffy differs from every other teen series as Joss Whedon makes it so mature, and interesting. It is not a unique genre. Throughout the series you find action, comedy, drama, metaphors, adventure, sex, and love. Buffy is often mistaken for something silly like a blonde girl with superpowers, and a silly name who fights vampires...How lame does that sound, right? But no, don't be mistaken...It is so much more. The vampires and all that are just metaphors for our inner monsters, and demons. The series depicts how hard life is in high school and how it can be hard for different people in different ways. It goes on after that showing that life in itself is hard, and shows how it feels to be an independent adult. Some serious themes happens in the Buffyverse. What I found particularly special is how characters grow, such as the one of Alison Hannigan playing Willow. She is depicted in season 1 as a nerd, who then becomes a powerful young woman. Or Xander who never went to college, but has an emotional intelligence, stronger than anyone. The fact that he sees everything is so important as it is painfully taken away literally from him by the priest Caleb in season 7. It also shows that very intelligent people, or academic more likely tend to be the more fragile. The metaphors of the drug addiction in season 6 with Willow was very real, and done in a exceptional way never seen before. The all of season 6 depicts very sordid elements of life. This boxset is the best series as each season, and each episode is so different, exploring each time various existentialist themes dealing with universal ones. Season 1 is not the best, as it is still childish (they start when Buffy is 16, and it ends when she is 22) However, it is worth watching it from the start. I think it is important to see all the episodes to understand fully the depth of this series as old stories are repeated. These characters are very real, and it is easy to identify with aspects of their personality. What I love about Buffy, is that she is human, and she wishes to be "a normal girl." She was "chosen", but she is not perfect. Her emotions, and the depiction of what she feels are played admirably by Sarah Michelle Gellar. The "demons" characters are interesting too in the sense that "villains" are not always bad, and "goodies" are not always good. This is again an aspect which is very true in real life. Joss Whedon created something unique that can be seen and analysed again and again. As he says he would "rather have 100 who need to watch the show, than 1000 who like to watch it." Joss Whedon was the first director to make a musical episode (Once more with feeling season 6), a silent one (Hush season 4), and a one with no sound (The Body season 5). If you haven't seen buffy from the beginning to the end you are truly missing something. This is truly a work of art.
