Forget the screwdriver and hammer mode. From the Manufacturer Easily removes door pins without damaging wood moldings or the door.Forget the screwdriver and hammer mode. Review: Worth it - Easy to use Fit in tight spaces I received these today and tried them out around the house to see how they worked. First impressions: On old hinges, the hinge pin removal tool takes a few strikes to drive the pin out of the top, newer hinges would probably be much easier, time will tell. Less space was necessary to use it compared to a hammer/punch, this made removing the bottom hinge pin easier. The nailset works well to recess finishing nails. Drove a framing nail from a nailgun 1/2" into a 2x4 with 6 strikes. It will bend small brads from a trim nailer if they're stucking out too far, but thats to be expected with thin wire brads. Fun tool to use, and very quick. Overall, glad I bought this set, and I think I'll enjoy using these at work. Review: Works great; wish I had known about this tool years ago - We had all our inside door hinges replaced as part of a remodel last year. One hinge recently started squeaking, but for the life of me I couldn't get the pin out to lubricate it. My normal strategy of putting a nail in the bottom and knocking it upwards with a hammer to push out the pin didn't seem to budge it. Grabbing the pin with vise-grips or diagonal cutters and banging on them didn't work, either, though that did a bit of cosmetic damage to the pin. I searched the Internet for other approaches, but nothing I tried worked. Then I stumbled upon this tool and decided to give it a shot. Within minutes of receiving the tool, I had the problematic pin out. So, I figured solving a problem that had me stymied warranted a review. Plus I wanted to tell someone but it's hard to get friends excited about hinge pin removal. The spring tools themselves seem solid and well made, and no worse for wear after removing a couple hinge pins. My only caution is not to get too relaxed when using it; if you release the spring when there is a gap between the striker and its target, the whole body will move and sting your fingers enough to help you remember next time. ## Features - PROFESSIONAL 2-IN-1 TOOL SET: Includes precision nail set (1/32" & 1/16") and hammerless door hinge pin remover - essential for painters and carpenters - MADE IN USA QUALITY: American-made with heat-treated steel (Rc55-57) - built for professional daily use with lifetime warranty - POWERFUL PERFORMANCE: 3500 LBS of impact force removes stubborn door pins without hammers or screwdrivers - works on all standard door hinges - PROTECT EXPENSIVE TRIM: Patented hammerless design prevents damage to door frames and molding - save time and money on repairs - PERFECT FOR TIGHT SPACES: Compact design reaches difficult corners and tight spots - ideal for detailed trim work and finish carpentry ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B003BHDHI6 | | Best Sellers Rank | #114,018 in Tools & Home Improvement ( See Top 100 in Tools & Home Improvement ) #76 in Pin Punches | | Brand | Spring Tools | | Brand Name | Spring Tools | | Color | Silver | | Customer Reviews | 4.7 out of 5 stars 3,965 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00761751000632 | | Included Components | Spring Tools PM407 Nail Set and Hinge Pin Tool | | Item Type Name | Spring Tools PM407 Nail Set and Hinge Pin Tool | | Item Weight | 0.27 g | | Manufacturer | Paint Sundries Solutions | | Manufacturer Part Number | PM407 | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | Warranty | | Material | ------ | | Material Type | ------ | | Maximum Weight Capacity | 3500 pounds | | Model Number | PM407 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | UPC | 761751000632 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Weight Limit | 3500 pounds | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Spring Tools - **Color:** Silver - **Global Trade Identification Number:** 00761751000632 - **Manufacturer:** Paint Sundries Solutions - **Material:** ------ - **Number of Items:** 1 - **Number of Packs:** 1 - **UPC:** 761751000632 - **Unit Count:** 1 Count - **Weight Limit:** 3500 pounds ## Images ![Spring Tools PM407 Professional Door Hinge Pin Remover & Nail Set Tool - Hammerless Door Pin Removal - Dual Nail Set for Trim Work - Spring Powered Nail Setter - Painter & Carpenter Essential Tool - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/717xZwzEP1L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: How do I get a replacement hinge pin tool this one got stuck in hinge and spring unwound** A: I am interested in an answer to this, as well. I have one which broke on a stubborn hinge pin. **Q: What's updated?** A: Actually, I'm thinking it looks like they (hopefully) changed the metal body portion (the non-spring part) to a slightly softer metal/temper so that these things stop shattering and breaking in half the second or third time you use them. See the photos of these with ok springs but snapped in half. For this price Covert Instruments gives you just the one updated tool. **Q: I need a replacement hinge pin removal tool! but i don't see one that is sold individually. how can i get a replacement?** A: I bought this set of two for that reason thinking that I only needed the hinge pin remover. But....while installing crown molding, the other nail set in the set was extremely useful. No hammering needed; one pull on the spring and the nail was countersunk. **Q: What is the minimum distance between the floor and the bottom hinge to use this tool?** A: Between 6-8 inches. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth it *by K***R on February 7, 2021* Easy to use Fit in tight spaces I received these today and tried them out around the house to see how they worked. This is your ticket. Only problem is I wish I knew they existed sooner! I keep mine closely guarded as everyone feels the same way about them as I do. It's like having a hot girlfriend.... in your pouch..... you lend her out just once and you bet you're going to have to go looking for her to get her back. I'd buy these again in a second!
