Review: Does the job well. - This was bought for a new 6 foot wooden gate fitted at our property. For the price, it’s amazing. Fits in 5 minutes, super easy. Can be adjusted so the gate closes quickly or slowly and also has a small catch if you need to wedge it open. It also looks a lot better than the other traditional heavy duty springs available as closers. We have 5 year old running about the garden and I would have concerns if they were to put their fingers in the spring. This takes away all concern. Overall, I’d highly recommend this product. It does the job well and is good value for money. I can’t comment on longevity as it’s just been fitted. I will update, should any issue arise.

**Q: I have two of these on a heavy Andersen full glass storm door. It slams shut then bounces open and then takes forever to close - anyone have any tips?**
A: With the door shut and the closer attached at the door jamb but not attached at the bracket on the door there should be about a 1 inch gap. In other words you should have about1 inch to pull on the closer to pin it at the door.  This will allow the door to close slowly to about a inch before the closer "lets go" to close the final inch. It will close quietly and and smooth.

**Q: Looking for an Anderson top door closer that is 9 inches in length (main cylinder end to end measurement)...is this available?**
A: Most door closers are universal size. Just the brackets might be different to the mounting holes but should be able to use the brackets from previous closer

**Q: What is the diameter of the pneumatic tube?**
A: Diameter 1 1/2"   Standard size, if that's helpful

**Q: When used as a replacement on a heavier weight Larson full view storm door, is it better to mount it at the top or the bottom position on the door?**
A: I mounted the replacement on the top because my door is heavy as well. It works and provides a smooth transition to closing.

I bought this item because I have a utility room that is a heat sink. People continually leave door open, so I needed door auto door closers. I did originally buy one of the more usual levered design which the proximity to another door made it highly unsuitable in construction and likely to lock people behind the door, offering no escape if alone in the house. I then found this item which has a low profile and didn’t obstruct the other door function making it safe to enter the pet of the house. Fitting was simple. The draw back was that because of the bracket that fits to the door frame and the path people must take to enter the other room and the proximity. It was considered that passing the bracket people would catch their hand or clothing. The faces of children might come into contact with the bracket. I had no choice but to fit it at the highest point possible. This means that my wife who is quite small cannot reach the locking device to hold the door open when an open door is required while operating in the room. However that said, and great consideration is given to the location of where this closer is to be fitted. It is a good product and value for money. I have had to be inventive to provide my wife with an alternative means to keep the door open when she needs it. I can recommend this product with the above caveat.
