You just turn the key of the mini winch to create tension on the clothesline and cut the excess rope.

Extremely well built, very chunky and solid and easy to install, just unhook one end of your line, line up the devices holes then pass the line through from one end to the other. Reattach your line. Go to the device and twist the ratcheted “key”. Line is wound up inside if and the ratchet holds it firm. There’s also a real ease button on a spring in case you want to release the tension. Excellent product, well chuffed, going to buy another :-)
