I have several counter appliances and I had rather store them instead of having them all out on my counters. My Kitchenaid mixer was too heavy to take in and out of my cabinets each time I use it, so this was a perfect solution. The shelf/rack is very easy to lift and the mixer stays on this shelf while using. When you let it down the weight of the mixer makes the shelf lower on its own slowly. It is NOT easy to install if your cabinet has a drawer at the top. It took several adjustments and moving the hardware rails around to finally keep from hitting or where it would properly lock. To combat this limitation when I put in the new cabinets I intentionally mounted one upside down after removing the toe kick and suspended it between the adjacent cabinets. Now the platform pops up and stops just below the counter surface. It makes lifting the heavy mixer pretty easy but one thing I don't like is it can be a little difficult to get both handles locked in when you raise it. Lowering the appliance is fantastic.
