I want to use the Moleskine Sketchbook as an art journal mainly for collage and felt tip/gel pen writing. Would it be suitable for this? Thanks, Caro

Hi,This product has 100 top-quality acid-free pages which is suitable for all types of pens and pencils. Can I recommend the 'Moleskine Passion Art Journal' (ASIN No 8866131547)Kind regardsAlan DunningThe Malvern Bookcase

is this an A5 sketchbook?

Not quite! A5 (technically) is 148 X 210mm. The moleskin sketchbook is 130 X 210mm

Hi What’s the difference between this and the (non-“Art”) plain notebook in terms of paper?

I haven't tried the non art one but the art one has a very silky finish on stiff paper which is ideal for pencil drawing and pen and ink..if you want a texture for watercolours this is too smooth for that so water colour washes are a bit more random but still make for an interesting slightly mottled effect. These books are a quality product with nice details and stitching are pleasing objects in themselves.

do drawings/writing etc show through to the next page? (a ghost image type thing?)

it depends on what you're using, i don't think pencil/graphite would show through the other side as the pages are quite thick, but i've done some work in fineliner and marker pens and you can see it faintly. it's not too bad though, nothing like when you use a felt tip on plain old paper and you get the bleeding through to the other side. when i scan the images i sometimes edit out any parts that you can kind of see, but it's not too bad, usually i'll leave it and it looks fine
