What is sooji coarse?

It is coarse wheat semolina, also called suji, rava or farina. The package ingredient is Wheat; the online declaration describes it as Farina (Semolina) Coarse Grind.

Does it contain wheat or gluten?

Yes. Sooji is made from wheat and contains gluten. It is not suitable for a gluten-free diet. The label also notes machinery shared with peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, mustard and sesame.

Is this a ready-to-eat mix?

No. This is plain coarse semolina for cooking, not an instant seasoned mix. Roast, hydrate or grind as your recipe directs, and cook thoroughly. Water amounts and cooking times depend on the dish.

What can I make with it?

Use it for upma, halwa, rava ladoo or warm cereal. For thin rava dosa, grind finer as needed for your recipe and combine with the specified flours and seasonings. Other ingredients shown are serving suggestions.

Where is it from, and how should I store it?

Product of India. Rani is a USA-based company established in 1979. Keep the dry sooji in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Reseal after opening or transfer to an airtight container. Use a clean, dry scoop.
