From the much-loved children’s series that began with Tree: A Peek-Through Picture Book comes an informative book with peek-through holes that show the moon’s different phases with each turn of the page. Over deserts and forests, Arctic tundra and tropical beaches, the moon shines down on creatures around the world. Children will love discovering how it changes from day to day as the lunar cycle is shown through clever peek-through holes, each revealing the moon in a different size and shape. It’s the perfect light nonfiction book for young stargazers—and an ideal bedtime book, ending with a giant moon hovering over a sleepy town hunkered down for bed. Look for all the books in the Peek-Through series: Tree, Bee, Ocean, Moon, Home , Bugs, and Family . Cute book for moon loving kids
My little moon loving 3 year old loves the pictures. The phases aren't accurate but they aren't explained that way either so I don't think it's confusing. It goes around the world with the different lunar phases and she enjoys pointing out the animals and their sounds as we go.

Beautiful illustrations AND message!
I bought the book for the illustrations and was surprised to see how educational it is as well. A great read and a book to put on the "keep forever list" when the kids are grown.

Beautiful an adorable artwork accompanied by seemingly random story
In my opinion this book would be an easy 5 stars (something I rarely give) based off the stunning artwork alone. This, followed by the moon peeking through here and there makes for an appealing book for anybody, especially babies and toddlers. What dings a star is the completely random and incoherent storyline that accompanies the book. Now, I am aware that this is a book meant for very young humans, most of whom don't know more than a handful of words or sounds but still - the story has nothing to do with the moon and makes no sense at all. The writer just threw some rather basic rhymes together and called it good. For example, the text starts off asking a question along the lines, "Have you wondered about the beauty of the moon?" and then continues to mention nothing about the moon whatsoever and just rhymes about different (adorable) nature scenes all over the world in different environments (mountains, prairies, tundra, etc.,). Also, the order of the moon phases is quite random and doesn't actually follow the correct waxing and waning we are used to in real life (seems like a pretty simple thing to get right). For example, in the middle of the book, the "new moon" jumps straight to a "full moon" the following page... I don't know why this happens and there is no explanation in the text. Kind of weird! Get the book because of the beautiful art. Overall a nice attempt. The art alone is reason enough to flip through the book each night with the little one. You can make your own words!

Buy the Board Book Version over the Hard Cover
Beautiful book! I purchased the board book version and was then gifted the hardcover version for our moon obsessed toddler. The colors in the board book version are significantly more vibrant and rich, as well as being a smaller size which encourages independent reading, so if you are wondering which version to get- go with the board book! I feel like the cut outs have a more powerful effect in the board book, as the pages are thicker also. I don't feel like the cut outs hold up well in the hardback edition. We also own 'tree' from the same author, again as a board book and it's a firm favorite. I really wanted to get 'ocean' as well, but it is only available in hard back and the paper the hard back pages are printed on are VERY matte, they seem to absorb all the color and just looks a bit lackluster, especially on darker scenes- to the point of being difficult to read in lower light- so I will wait until they do a board book edition of that before purchasing.

Molto Scenografico
Avevo già la tradizione in italiano per cui sapevo della bellezza delle illustrazioni. Mi è spiaciuto non vedere la luna glitterata

Stages of Moon
My nephew loves the moon. He usually wants to see the moon before going to bed so I thought he'd love this book... and yes he does love it!!! There's a cutout shapes of the moon from waining to waxing crescent to full moon, it gives insight into how moon looks at different environmental setting like forest, desert, ocean...
