This product was recommend by many people, so I decided to give it a try. This really works amazing! Truly. I wasn't very keen on the price of the product initially, but after using it—I can see that this product is absolutely indispensable and a must-have. The product description says this is unscented, but be aware that the sponge eraser has a very strong rubber chemical scent. Likewise, the putty has a very strong odor that's reminiscent of Play-Doh. Overall, this product is excellent and works as described. This works best for light stains, and gentle use—especially on comic books. I was pleased with the results it produced. I purchased and used Absorene to clean the covers on a collection of books (100+ yrs.old) that I own. **Q: Old Bible, leather cover. Got wet and now the back pages are stained and stink. I want to recover but will this work to rid it of the stains/smell?** A: These sponges are very soft and bendy. We found it difficult to clean the front cover of a hardback. I cant imagine trying to use it on the fragile pages of a bible. I'm sure it will clean the leather cover to a certain extent but if the leather has absorbed the liquid spilled on it, you may have a very hard time extracting the smell. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect For Light Markings, and Non-Abrasive Use. *by D***. on July 8, 2025* I was skeptical that this product would work, but I needed something non-abrasive to clean dirt & light markings off of my comic books. It's not for aggressive cleaning and is not designed for that. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for cleaning books *by S***D on January 25, 2023* The magic sponge, sort of a modified gummy eraser works well for cleaning off light dirt and peciln markings from books. One swipe and you can see the dirt on the sponge. It’s sturdy, you don’t need to put much pressure on it. Just begin at one side of a page, and gently run across the surface in one direction. Do not rub back and forth, or in spirals, just lightly and gently in one direction, and repeat until clean. The putty cleaner works by rolling a rod of it in your hand, then roll across the surface of the book your cleaning. Great for delicate paper. Never rub, just roll in one direction all over the page. When the eraser is dirty, you can knead it to a cleaner spots and continue. Great for light soot, dirt, dust. I use it to gently clean the surfaces of old books, and found that it works extremely well. Just remember not to scrub, or put much pressure on either. Though it may take an extra few wipes, doing so will maintain the integrity of the paper. I recommend this for used books. A great product if you use it correctly. ## Frequently Bought Together - Absorene Book Cleaner and Dirt Eraser (Bundle- 2 Items) for Cleaning Dirt and Dust Off Books and Documents - Helix - Professional Pencil Cap Erasers 10ct - Efficient Correction - Durable & Clean - Ideal for Students and Professionals - Latex free - Tombow 57315 Mono Zero Eraser and Refill Value Pack, Round 2.3mm.
