I am not sure if there is any solvent in it or not. I wouldn't use any oil on nylon. it would at the very least soften them and keep them from being in tune. **Q: Does this work for Bass strings?** A: Yes. I’ve been using this for several years to clean my bass strings. Works well and extends the life of the strings. **Q: Can i use to clean violin strings?** A: Do not use this on violin strings. **Q: while this product cleans and lubricate the strings as it will normally do, will it be good for the maple fretboard as well? thanks!** A: Planet Waves XLR8 String Lubricant is very difficult to use in that it is hard to apply to all facets of the strings and it dries out too quickly.
