Changing a tire or just being out of your car at night without some visibility indicator is dangerous. Heed cautions that it does run small. I am a petite 5'4 woman who wears about a size 6-8 in clothes. I got a vest in size Large and I'm glad I did. While it is loose, it is not falling off me by any means. Besides, this is not something I want to fit snugly and put stress on the zipper -- we're not talking superior construction here. Moreover, I want lots of room for winter clothing and coats. The upper chest/arm hole area is roomy. The lower area runs a bit narrow. As I am short, this vest hangs down low on me -- passed my hip area. I have ample room but I see that this is where the vest is smaller/tighter than it should be and belies the stated size, especially if it is meant to fit men loosely over their clothes. It could do with some notched-out side vents to provide a little give, as this material does not stretch. One size larger for women is fine. But men should definitely buy at least 2 sizes larger than you think you need. If you normally wear a size large in clothes you should get, at a minimum, an XXL in this vest. You won't regret the extra room---assuming there is any. $7-8 is a good price for these vests. I will buy more in the future.
