My wife and I have 4 teenagers and, as I read this book, I kept thinking that so much of what the author shares rings true - as I internally chuckled while reading it. The recurring suggestion of a teenager trying to ride a stallion (and thereby navigate their world despite limited experiences or knowledge) was rather fitting, while our role as parents is to guide them but to let them live, learn, make mistakes, think for themselves, and ultimately become independent. I thought the author’s suggestion that we need to “take the lead” in initiating time with them, grant them more responsibility, and keep open lines of communication were all very helpful and strategies I plan to pursue.
