What is the difference between the carbon fiber monopod and aluminum monopod? Just the weight?

Yes, weight is one difference - a carbon fiber is lighter than an aluminum tube of the same diameter and thickness. The other is stiffness. Carbon fiber is more stiff than aluminum for the same diameter and thickness of tube.

Description here says carbon weighs more and holds less than aluminum; is that true?

Hello, Good question. This is my opinion only. I'm not a materials scientist or an expert of any kind. So, I think this monopod will work for just about any binocular or camera that can be easily and comfortably by hand, mostly without any additional support. What this monopod will do is help keep the equipment steady, and help prevent fatigue. It has certainly worked great for me. Anything heavier I will always depend on my Gitzo tripod. I hope this helps. Best...

Do you have the rubber leg tips replacement?

Yes. I keep them on all the time. With them on there is no problem indoors or outdoors.

Is the metal spike replaceable??

You can pull off the rubber foot to expose a spike tip. This aluminum mono pod is great, compact and lightweight
