It does require some work on the learners part since there is no companion teacher book (hint), however by the time I was 1/3 through I was sounding out the words without relying on the english or YouTube explanations and able to recognize letters. Consistency and practice are the key. Highly recommend to anyone who knows a little arabic speech but wants to start writing. Such a beautiful written language. This is modern standard university arabic so some words would never be commonly used, especially in egyptian dialect which is my focus, but it does a good job of the basics.
