It’s so good at getting wet or dried up oil based paint, varnishes, and stains off of paint brushes and rollers!.. but it’s not odorless at ALL.. it’s got a pretty strong smell.. I knew that before I bought it, but others may not know. Other than that, it’s awesome. It’s easy to use, and it works super fast - even at getting dried paint off of brushes and rollers. It’s pretty versatile.. you can use it for degreasing tools and machinery, getting sticky / adhesive residue off of stuff, cleaning wood to get sanding dust and wax build up off, and you can also use it as a thinner for oil-based finishes to get better spread and penetration.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can I use this on cleaning kitchen cabinets before sanding them down and restaining them?**
A: Yes, but what is the base of the stain and finish?
There are 3 main bases for stains and finishes. Water/latex, alcohol, and oil-based.

If you are using oil-based stain and finish, then this is perfect. This is actually the solvent in most oil-based stains and finishes but it's compatible with it as a cleaner and thinner.

It's not great for water based but it's not going to do harm unless it gets on the bare wood, you need to let it dry if that happens.
And for alcohol-based (eg Shellac), it's about the same. Again, not harmful unless it gets sealed under the finish. Shellac uses alcohol as a solvent and thinner.

I'm a professional woodworker and since this is a rather basic question, here's abit of advice: don't just stain the cabinets, you need a finish of a compatible type. Don't mix water-based with either of the others.

I'd recommend some oil-based stain you like and then finish with a satin Shellac. It's really forgiving. Just be aware that most pre-mixed shellac in the can is waxed. You can't really put anything on top of that but shellac is easily stripped with alcohol if you ever want to change anything.(Denatured fuel alcohol)

**Q: Is it safe to use on the exterior of a new wood stove?**
A: I do not know for sure but I suspect it's flammable

**Q: Will this product remove a varnish finish from a wood dresser top?**
A: No, you need Klean Strip stripper.

**Q: Can this be used to help remove silicone sealant and silicone residue before applying new sealant?**
A: I only used with silicon to water proof items.

In our home everyone is allergic(even the dog) so I needed a solvent that wouldn’t fill the air with strong fumes. This product delivered exactly that. It performed just like the conventional mineral spirits I’ve used before but without the usual chemical smell. I used it for thinning oil-based paint and cleaning brushes, and I didn’t get any of the usual air irritation or headaches.
