Review: Surprisingly nice. - I have not painted with these. They were bought for wrangling small, fragile invertebrates. The bristles are very soft. Prefect for tickling the toes of a skittish little spiderling during rehousing, to get it moving without scaring it. Soft enough to gently guide one who’s feeling especially timid and having trouble self-starting too. The smaller brushes in the set are also good for pinning down hoppy little feeder insects without harming them so they can be picked up. The handles on these are super long! I spent ages trying to find long-handled paintbrushes. The amount of sellers who assume people know what the numbers mean, and don’t specify the length of the handles, is astounding. I went to art school for a bit and even I have no clue of the exact dimensions of a #8 paintbrush. I finally just bought desertcart recommended ones that had a good rating and a reasonable price. These are exactly what I was after! Cheap brushes CANNOT compare with a good, high quality brush. I’ve used a $50 brush or two and man… exquisite. Even cheap paints lay nicer with a good brush (though quality paint is so much better). This is why we call them “starving artists.” Lol. Quality tools and materials make a BIG difference but don’t come cheap. That said, I think these would do well for the casual artist who is learning and/or making art more as a fun hobby or diversion. You don’t NEED the absolute best tools to make good art. Heck, I’ve seen people paint beautiful things on the back of a paper diner placemat with nothing more than a paper napkin and the dregs of their 9th cup of coffee. These are good brushes. As middle of the road, not totally cheap, but not exactly professional quality brushes go, these definitely rate.

I have not painted with these. They were bought for wrangling small, fragile invertebrates. The bristles are very soft. Prefect for tickling the toes of a skittish little spiderling during rehousing, to get it moving without scaring it. Soft enough to gently guide one who’s feeling especially timid and having trouble self-starting too. The smaller brushes in the set are also good for pinning down hoppy little feeder insects without harming them so they can be picked up. The handles on these are super long! I spent ages trying to find long-handled paintbrushes. The amount of sellers who assume people know what the numbers mean, and don’t specify the length of the handles, is astounding. I went to art school for a bit and even I have no clue of the exact dimensions of a #8 paintbrush. I finally just bought Amazon recommended ones that had a good rating and a reasonable price. These are exactly what I was after! Cheap brushes CANNOT compare with a good, high quality brush. I’ve used a $50 brush or two and man… exquisite.
