The problem is I don't want to use some 6 foot long cable just to use the dongle. I could use bluetooth but that has high latency and limits the polling rate. That's the whole point of the dongle. But if I have to use a long cable, then what's the point of using wireless at all? In comes this to save the day. I plug the dongle into this on my laptop and I have a short unobtrusive connection from my laptop to the dongle. The braiding is strong. I like that it has ferrules too. I definitely think this does the job well. Every other usb-c cable fits just fine, but this one won't.
