That's my go to way to record bass. I find the combination of the two mics pairs nicely. I place the Beta 52a near dead center of the cone about an inch or two away from the grill with the 57 above it (toward the edge of the cone) stuffed into the grill. Hope that helps! **Q: Is this consender microphone?** A: No. The BETA 52A is a dynamic mic. It does not use phantom power. You connect the XLR cable from this microphone straight into your mixer. **Q: How well does it work when set up inside drum thru the port?** A: It works extremely well! It's given me the best bass drum sound I've had in years. Just make sure the gain is up on the microphone to really get a good sound. **Q: How well would it work with a zoom H6 recorder?** A: Not so good.
