No need to foil or cling wrap, the lids are not air tight and need to let out the steam during cooking process If you are steaming in a Ninja foodie or similar do not select high pressure – select low to medium as the intensity for these electric new steamers is beyond the temperature that the polypropylene will take, and they may warp. A traditional steam pressure cooker is fine. When steaming is complete you can take the lid off whist it cools, this will stop any condensation from forming on the underside of the lid and dampening your grease proof paper **Q: Can the lids be used while steaming** A: I steamed all of my large families Christmas puddings in these containers. However I was not confident enough to steam them using the plastic lids. I steamed then using traditional tin foil and then put the pretty lid on at the end!
