Domke Bag Protector for Films

Another great product from Domke. Well made, and quite heavy due to the lead lining, this small Filmguard pouch comfortably holds 6x 35mm films in their plastic canisters. Would definitely recommend to any film shooter worried about X-ray exposure to their films when travelling.

Works well. I’ve tested film in this via 3D scanner and no effect on Kodak Pro 100 or black and white ASA 100. I’d keep ASA film rating below 400 The developer could see no signs of X Ray

Perfect for taking homoeopathic remedies on holiday. to block scanners .Put in my suitcase . This size was definitely big enough.

I have seen tests online that prove this product protects your film from around 10-20% of the base fog that an airport scanner might inflict. It is also a convenient and durable pouch to keep your film organised. That said, I caught a look at how it appears on X-ray machine screens and understandably it looks... suspect. After explaining what this pouch was to the security officer they were intrigued and showed their colleagues - clearly not something airport staff are trained to expect/handle. If you purchase this for airport travel, at security always take it out of your bag and place it on a separate tray, I would even suggest telling the security officer this bag will show up as suspect-looking - keeping this in your carry-on luggage almost guarantees airport security will search your bag. If you are willing to risk your luggage being searched or take the extra few seconds to remove it from your luggage and put it on a separate tray this product will protect your film to a degree. If this is worth the extra 10-20% protection for your photographs, then it will be a very worthwhile purchase.

Great for carrying homeopathic remedies without harm when flying.

The Bag is of really good quality and kinda heavy. Can also booked lots of films.

I bought this to transport some film on a flight, hoping to avoid asking for a hand check. Well, that was extremely dumb of me. Every single frame on 8 rolls of 120 film are ruined. Don't use this to protect your film. Ask for a hand check and remove all possibility of damage. Don't be like me; lots of money wasted on film and development for nothing useable.

Fiable producto para viajar con carretes analógicos. El espacio es ideal para guardar 3-4 carretes e incluso tu cámara point and shoot. Recuerda siempre indicar lo que va dentro de la bolsa de plomo en el control del aeropuerto.

use it for all my travels! did get flagged a couple times by security but once they know it’s to protect a film camera they let u through quickly

Tested! Travelled to Guatemala and sent it through the hand luggage x-ray. No film fogging on low ISO b&w film.

Took a trip to Japan and wanted to take a few rolls of film. I bought this only as a just-in-case as i was going to take it out and ask for it to be hand-checked anyway. But of course in the hustle-and-bustle of international travel I completely forgot to take the film out that was in my carry on backpack. I had packed the Domke with film rolls to the point where there was a bit of space around the opening near the flap and was worried that that might be a big enough of an opening to ruin the film from x-rays. I got to Japan and developed one of the rolls and it turned out perfectly fine. So i believe this product works just fine for its intended purpose. Note that i purchased the "small" version and it does not have enough space to fit film while it is in its box, and barely enough space for 9 rolls in their lidded plastic canisters. It can fit 7 rolls fine however, maybe more if you forgo use of the plastic canisters.

Since most airports and other places with security screening have upgraded to CT scanners, this bag no longer provides effective protection. It may offer limited protection against older X-ray machines, but the first time my films went through a CT scanner, they were all ruined. CT scanners are now installed at most major screening locations.
